john_john_lin: I don't think it has anything to do with Mesa. It should be the improvement of i915 driver.

and it does not explain the difference between Windows and Linux. As far as I know, intel graphics support on Windows is much better.

@AZ: According to my experience and an internet article, both kernel 3.2+ & mesa-7.11+ is required for good performance
