i have been fighting with this thing all night apparently it will only connect to the Internet when it's literally right next to

the router

and even then it insists it is a distant, weak signal

it hangs whenever i open any fucking program at all

not that i can even think of much to do with it, without a goddamn internet connection

it is bullshit i expected at least a few days use out of it before it started pissing me off

Have you checked the drivers on the dell? I see a lot of fresh out of box ones come in to my desk at work,

and they are shit at including the latest drivers in their factory installs.

This won't make up for it being a Dell, but it might help?
