Us little guys that don't have concerts and tshirt sales. All we have is our album sales. It can make it so one can no longer create more
Though, I will always create music. The ability to sell it cost an artist money. So, its a lot like donating money and music to the world.
One can not survive on donating. Just sayin.
Hey Coll, the articles of the girl at NPR and the David guy caused a lot of waves.
At first: the David guy did say many true words but, sadly, he did use a lot of wrong numbers.
It is a very complicated matter!
Many people, leaded by the music industry, mourn the past times, well they will never come back!
And the past times weren't as good as they say, except for the music industry, for them was selling music like directly printing money.
The new media cause a massively growing number of artists competing for listeners, fans and money for their music.
It's ever been fact that most of the money went into the industries pockets. A small number of artists earn millions with making music.
But the majority of artist always had problems to get a living from making music.
I'm kinda out of breath now...
Twas just a few thoughts of a dilettante who still pays far more than a thousand dollars per year for music.

I am always thankful for you and the others here who still pay for their music.
I never thought I'd make tons of money, but I wanted to at least support the cost of the next album.
Our Collectic World took 3 years to write. (stupid perfectionism) Knowing I would never recoup money for that time. But to make an album
sellable cost several hundred dollars at the least.
Some albums nowadays are just collections of songs, others, like yours, are arts.
To not make that money back makes it so an artist takes 5 years to produce another album. All for free.
The first article by the NPR intern is always quoted: "But I honestly don't think my peers and I will ever pay for albums."
but the following words: "I do think we will pay for convenience." get left out!
Thank you!

An artist is one who takes pride in doing a job well.
it is convenient already. So much so, that you can get it for free.
With the next album of mine, "To Live in Love" most of the music is written, but will take several years before anyone can enjoy
in my present situation.
Since it is in my soul, You can be assured that it will eventually happen
be looking forward to that then Coll! and happy to wait coz it will be worth it
still spends a fair amount of money on musics, yups, quite a lot in fact, a whole lot even.
looking forward coll
hasn't read any articles on it so pretty sure peeps with more sense have said lots about this topic already, but...
for me, personally, the only time I get music for free is when the artist offers it, and then it's only for artists I dunno yet
if I like them enough to listen more than a couple times, I always buy their music
and if I like them well enough, I often buy every bit of their music that is available.
so those artists are coming out ahead in the end, just sayin'.
come back and read this when I have more time. Lots of interesting things here...
