FINALLY i think this is the episode i have been WAITING FORRR since the end of season 1
at least judging by the "LAST TIME, ON FRINGE" intro anyway
i find it's usually very easy to divine what an episode is going to be about and whether it will be plot-relevant or not based on what
LAST TIME, ON FRINGE scenes they decide to show, if they decide to show them at all.
oh wow, they did a really good job of making walter's actor look 20 years younger here.
also judging by the fact that the episode's name is, well, "Peter." all i can say is THIS HAD BETTER BE THE FUCKING REVEAL EPISODE ALREADY.
/ok sits down to watch properly now because plurk is being dumb.
1. why do alternate realities ALWAYS HAVE ZEPPELINS? is this just A THING?
there was this one guy who claimed he could mass produce zeppelins and make flight by zeppelin way cheaper than airplanes.
IIRC it didn't work, but if it had zeppelins could have become a big thing
and 2. do they ever explain why there is only ONE alternate universe that they can see/travel between, when the show has made it perfectly
clear that their alternate universe explanation gives room for there to be infinity number of them?
like the whole "There is two of everything" line! i'm like
NO... THERE ISN'T... THERE'S INFINITY NUMBER!!
IF THE SHOW'S RATIONALE FOR ALTERNATE UNIVERSES IS BASED ON CHOICES, THEN THERE IS INFINITY NUMBER OF UNIVERSES!!
SO WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE!
i do not understand. plot point you had better be explained!! o9"
hahaha omg retro opening theme i do like you
also damnit, i would have liked to have seen how that not-date with olivia and peter went at the end of last episode :')
bryony: THE TWO UNIVERSES PLOT POINT IS TTLY EXPLAINED
2. this has been bugging me for a while, but do they ever explain why there is only ONE alternate reality that they can go/see between, when
... plurk what are you doing...
oh that only took a while, plurk. o9"
ok walter why are you freaking out about breaking the cure in the vial, you can make another one. you did it once already.
also this raises quite a few questions about alternate walter...
wtf was his reaction when he found out his son was gone.
ok god how does Peter not remember ANY of this
also walter you're a fucking idiot
why didn't you just. take him to your lab on the other side. and explain to walternate the problem with the cure and cure him there.
instead of taking him back to your side.
if walternate is the same guy he would understand immediately!!1
also this is such a minor nitpick but adult peter and peter's mom and walter all have naturally curly hair, why does the kid
have straight hair
i know i know CAN'T BE PICKY WITH CHILD ACTORS IN HOLLYWOOD
and i guess i had naturally straight hair until the age of 13 when it suddenly went curly so w/e w/e
ACTUALLY SOMETIMES KIDS WITH STRAIGHT HAIR END UP WITH CURLY HAIR LATER
My brother had straight hair as a kid and his hair got curly as he got older.
so i am just pretending that is what happened here
ok god that was actually a good episode despite being not the episode i expected at all and raising even more questions than it answered
but that's very typical of JJ Abrams ha ha
1. WHAT HAPPENED TO WALTERNATE. we had better get a story about that. ffs.
2. we just had a whole episode about how when something is taken from one side, it has to be replaced on the other. so who was taken
from our side and put onto the other in kid!peter's place. is that a thing they're ever going to answer.
3. how did kid!peter suddenly accept this reality? he was certainly old enough (8 i think?) to be aware of his surroundings enough to tell
that Our Walter was not His Walter very quickly, and rightly so, he was an intelligent kid (or supposed to be)
not to mention the very obvious 20 year difference in technology available
i'll be curious to know if that's a thing that gets dealt with, like if walter hypnotised him or something, or if it just gets glossed over
also did he ever experience the time dilation episodes like olivia did when she crossed over? what about other side effects?
4. not really related to that episode, but WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BADASS POLICE WOMAN THAT WAS INVESTIGATING OLIVIA'S DISAPPEARANCE FROM S2E1?
it looked like they were setting up to do something with her and then poof she's gone
then again, i suppose if olivia forgot all about her cortexifan period, it is highly possible that she and peter were treated with the same
treatment to make them forget
i had been previously chalking up olivia's forgetfulness to being much younger than peter at the time (i think like 4 as opposed to
... plurk.--as opposed to 8*
which is a significant difference in terms of childhood brain development, and also the fact that it's implied olivia's treatment was
highly traumatic, it's not uncommon for people to repress memories of such a nature, so.
OH ALSO, SOMETHING ELSE I WONDERED FROM 2x16
walter's lab is in Harvard...
so why did he say he had to take Peter back to his lab in Cambridge?!
this show is normally good with small details so i don't expect that it's a flub
confuuuuse
after watching 2x19 i am almost 100% positive that the man from the other side was Walternate
which. would make perfect sense.
WALTER YOU ARE YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY.
aka, Fringe: Wherein Everything Is Walter Bishop's Fault
... suddenly film noir episode
flskjfslk sad piano player broyls
also waiting for other!Charlie to explode in spider worm babies and die all over again
he is marked for death man
... sigh of course it is other!olivia
well that was a rather ominous season end for olivia
welp time to go shower and get dinner
Also re: things getting replaced. It doesn't work like that when they use a gate.
IT'S NEVER REALLY ADDRESSED
But when it's a gate there doesn't need to be a trade, trades are only required when things get zapped in or out.
also WHAT WERE YOU LAUGHING AT
