i hear you there. i only rent homesteads and it's not obvious at all. it happened that i had to advance the money, run after tenants, etc.
i love it mind you, i love having good fun tenants, it's just a lot of accounting and responsability.
My homestead renters rock. It's the stores that drive me nuts. I have a large main store over grace period right now in addition to the
smaller ones. I hate to be a nag, but the lindens need to be payed!

I don't get how people don't see that if you are leaving after being overdue, you havent used sim resources and should pay the arrears
I know offline messages can cap, but how hard is it to add a "rent due" event and/or reminder to one's calendar?

I think if one's not intending to renew, the courteous thing is to make sure to hit the "won't renew" option on the box and clean up on time
or if it's a rental system that doesn't have that option, hey, let the landlord know the move-out date.
or make arrangements with the landlord
sometime they have flex room, or options
like split script if they wanna retain you to keep their sim traffic up
I think of satellites as advertising.
I also like to find odd little places to rent from time to time to see how things move there to a different community.
