No longer will the sun shine brighter than before.
He wiped his tears as he stood up and tried to reach the door.
Who are you, I asked of him, are you alright old man?
After all the times we've met, you still don't know who I am?
We both went out to a nearby park and sat on a wooden bench,
It was raining that time but we didn't care that both of us were drenched.
He took out a cigar and lit it up as he started to speak to me,
He said that he'll tell a story of love with a side of tears and tragedy.
A story of laughter, grief and pain,
said the little old man as he held his cane.
Decades ago, when I was still young, I gave up my all to find love.
And up to now, I'd give anything for the dream that I wanted to have.
I can hear his sobs as he continued told me of his past,
The moments he held close to his heart that has now just faded like the dust.
there something eternal in this world, that he asked of me.
I grabbed into his pockets and told him here it is.
The letters we have written, when both of us were young,
The love that we gave to our beloved, that has always stayed unsung.
The man then smiled and asked me, if I love her up to this very day.
I sang a song and he whispered, just love her everyday.
We went back to the dark cold room and bid each other goodbye,
It was sad to watch him go, but there'd be no point if I cried.
He went back into the mirror, and I smiled as I though of me,
A few years into the future, that man could be me.
I've met him quite so often, in every dream each night.
With a slightly altered story, that shifted from our fights
Now I ask my self, which one will I be,
I guess I'll have to live my life to see the end of the story.
