PUPPY! (Seriously, I want that dog)
Castiel is channeling a cranky Columbo
Good job on the bladder infection
Cas just did meta on Looney Toons
Dean is in a button down shirt
PS Scruffiness tumblr featured the boys today
I saw that
ANIMANIACS REFERENCE!! SHOW I LOVE YOU!!!
I don't think you pronounced that correctly - I love you Cas.
I'll interrogate the cat!
Castiel is going to put them in the cartoon aren't they
The boys don't seem to understand mental decline in the elderly very well.
no one they know lives that long
I love all the black holes.
um . . .
well, that was mildly depressing
I hope Fred's soundtrack has more than one song.
My fave ep so far this season! Loved all the classic cartoon references as I grew up on those, all the way up to Animaniacs! And Castiel's constant misunderstanding of the references was amusing. My biggest LOL
moment tho had to come from the cat calling Castiel "dumbass", LOLOLOL. Cool plot tho a sad twist with the Fred character...glad he got to have some modicum of peace at the end. Poor Sammy, tho. Amelia actually
grew on me in this ep and Sam seemed to be growing on her father...but I had a big suspicion when the phone rang that it would be Don, alive, on the other end. And then with how Sam's flashbacks came every time
Crap- I missed it! I was working on my Christmas card and totally lost track of time.
the subject of 'escaping into one's own head' came up...yeah. I have a solid theory about it all now, but a sad one. I won't go into it, tho. As Dean said, that's all, folks!
Hhmm...interesting. So was Amelia going to go back to Don? Is that why Sam left in the season premier?
Also... I loved the comment Dean made about braiding Sam
braiding Sam's hair!
Okay...I can't help it, I'll share a tidbit of my theory. Actually, it's more like the crux of it, but anyway...my theory of what went (and is maybe still going) on w/ Sam is that Amelia isn't real. That is to
say not that she wasn't an actual person b/c we saw that she was when Sam looked her up, but that Sam's 'relationship' with her never got beyond the vet's waiting room when she convinced him to take Riot
home. That he simply latched onto her and fabricated her fictionally b/c he needed something to latch onto...in other words, MAJOR mental break. I have a lot of smaller 'ties' I've put together to support this
that theory could work. I still wish the dog had stayed, though
possibility too, namely names. Could Amelia = Amy (Pond), someone Sam had an attachment to but was of course gone? Could Don = Dean, "Don's" loss having been a catalyst for a mental breakdown as well for
Hhhmm...how long do dog smells linger in a car? Remember Dean smelled dog? Unless Sam ditched the dog right before he went to meet up with Dean.
"Amelia"? And could "Don" coming back from the dead be Dean...could that really have been Dean on the phone, thus explaining how Sam knew he'd be at that cabin?
Zofia27: I do think Riot was real. It's the thing w/ Amelia that I think went no further than the vet's.
Maybe something also happened to Riot (which would be really sad!)
LALALALALA RIOT IS FINE AND HAPPY WITH AMELIA
I don't want anything to have happened to Riot either! But I don't know...
maybe he just never kept Riot
It sure would break Sam further (than I think he's already been broken)
sarie1210: That could be too. Tho I don't know then about the dog smell in the car.
But yeah, all those flashbacks happening when the conversation was about mental breaks and escapes just literally screamed at me in this ep...
Plus the last ep, with how Dean refused to remember Castiel having WANTED to stay behind in Purgatory and instead, up until the end, remembered as Castiel having slipped from his grasp? You make your own
reality in your head sometimes like that, to deal with trauma and guilt. So...that's basically where my thinking is at right now.
Huh, interesting. I hadn't thought about the possibility of not taking the flashbacks at face value. Though maybe that would explain why Sam can't seem to have a flashback without staring out into space.
I've noticed that, too. I keep expecting to hear a harp playing as the scene fades into the flashback.
sarie1210: Exactly! It's like he completely goes into his head w/ the flashbacks, and takes a while to come back out.
And that's what this ep was about...the guy Fred going completely into his head.
I hope you are right Kitty. I still do not like Amelia at all. And I've felt from the get go that something was off with Sam and the whole Amelia scenerio.
This was such a good episode. I loved Dean "What is the word Cas?" Cas: "It's a shortened version of my name!'
this ep had a lot of great lines.
I loved the cat...."dumbass"...
The cat looked like my buddy at church! (Yes, I have a cat-buddy at church...he comes to greet his family when church lets out, and he also comes to greet me)
Getting in to Squee very late!! A day late, in fact. I took my Dad to a concert as an early Christmas present while a friend looked after my Mom so I didn't see the show until late when I got home.
Absolutely my favorite part was "dumb ass" uttered by the cat!! Was totally not expecting that!!
I think this is my favorite episode too. It feels more like the original episodes we loved so much. Lots of laughs but at the same time exploration of the boys...in this case Sam's last year.
MysticKitty512: I'm not sure if the entire Amelia thing is made up but that's an interesting theory. They certainly go all dreamy like when they do the flashback. (And I'll just add that Sam looks totally
dreamy in those!)
What still bothers me is how he knew that it was Dean when he met him at the cabin (prior to their usual rituals of holy water, etc.) A phone call alone does not prove that the real Dean is back. Something else
must have happened. I can't help but wonder if he's got some psychic ability again.
ShutterBugs: You're right. I don't think they really answered how Dean got in touch with Sam. If Sam ditched all the cell phones how would he know to go to the cabin?
