didn't answer it, not wanting to bother with it.
|The caller left a voice mail, it was the hospital, and they had said they had a patient named Astrid just brought in.
didn't notice it since he was playing wtih the kitty.
|About an hour later, there was a call to the house phone.
sighed and went to go answer it.
|"Hello? I'm looking to speak to Søren Kristensen." The female voice on the other end said calmly.
nodded. "Mhmm. What do ye want?"
|"I'm calling from Rigshospitalet, an hour ago there was a woman brought in named Astrid, she was barely conscious, but she kept trying to call you."
nodded again, idly doodling on some paper. "Kay. What happened? She slept too long on her stomach or somethin'?"
|"Um no, she was in a severe head on collision tonight with a drunk driver."
tensed instantly before dropping the phone and running to the car. He snatched the keys on the way out, and just headed to the hospital.
|The voice on the other end asked if he was still there, but when she heard the door slam she just hung up. Astrid laid in the bed quietly, hooked up to different machines.
got there as fast as he could and went to her room. He was terrifed.
very bruised and cut up, but her heart beat was steady. She made a quiet sound, and her hand twitched.
panted as he ran in, taking her hand. "Astrid..."
made a small sound hearing her name, she groaned a little in pain. She seemed to try and open her eyes, but she didn't.
shakes his head. "Keep 'em closed. Ye gotta rest..." He felt terrible for not coming sooner.
tried again, making another small sound, mumbling his name.
shakes his head and frowns more. "Be quiet, idiot. Ye need yer strength.."
coughed a little, what could be considered an attempt at a laugh. She was awake, she just didn't have energy to open her eyes.
stroked her hair lightly, looking her over. "Ye look terrible."
made a sound, lifting her hand slightly, normally she would have hit him, but she just laid her hand back down.
took her hand and sighed. "Rest, idiot."
opened her eyes a little bit, she didn't have her glasses but she looked toward him, her blue green eyes a little dull. "S.. Søren.."
sighs. "Will ye listen to me, for once?"
smiled a little. "Nej..." She mumbled, squeezing his hand a little. "Odin.. I hurt.." She didn't want to stop talking, not now that he was here.
sighs and sat on the side of the bed. "Well ja, I'd imagine..."
nodded slightly. "M-mhmm.. He came out 'f nowhere.." She closed her eyes. "He didn' have his lights on.."
sighs and stroked her hair more. "I bet... humans can't drive for shit..."
nods a little. "Mhmm." She tried to sit up slowly.
pushed her back down. "Stay. Fanden."
made a sound of pain but laid back down. "Ow."
"Stay, Odin." He didn't want her to get more hurt.
wouldn't get hurt more, she just wanted to sit up. "When'd y' get here?"
sighs. "Just a little bit ago..."
nods. "'m glad y' didn' wait long.." She meant until she was awake.
sighed. "I feel terrible..."
looked at him. "Why?" She asked, blinking a little. "I can't see.. Where are m' glasses?" They weren't in the room.
shrugs as he looked around. "They're not here."
frowns a little. "They're prob'ly broken.." She didn't remember, she had closed her eyes just before the impact. Some of the skin around her eyes was cut because of the metal frames and lenses.
sighs. "I'll bring a pair when I come back."
smiles a little, nodding. "Tack." She breathed out quietly. "How bad do I look?" She wished he didn't have to see her like this.
sighs. "Time will make ye better."
frowned, closing her eyes. "That bad, hm?" She tilted her head to not face him right now.
nods a little. "It'll be better one the swellin' goes down I bet."
frowned quietly, biting her lip slightly. "'Nd.. If it doesn'? What 'bout the scarrin'..?"
smirks. "It will, trust me."
brought her free hand up, putting it over her face lightly feeling it, she cringed a little from both pain, and the swelling.
huffed and put her hand to the side. "Stop."
sighed quietly. "I.. 'S really bad..." She brough her hand down and clenched her fist, before she never really cared if she got badly cut, now.. she had someone that she had to think about her looks with, and
she felt really horrible right now. She closed her eyes tightly, her emotions were almost getting the better of her. She had to try and force herself to keep her normal calm demeanor.
kissed her forehead lightly. "Astrid... don't worry 'bout it..."
shook her head weakly. "Nej. 'M goin t' worry 'bout it. I jus.. Odin why didn' I move faster?" She was kind of blaming herself right now.
sighs. "It's not yer fault, Astrid. Drunk drivers never have any sense. Trust me, I know."
raises her eyebrow. "Why do y' know?" If he'd driven drunk before, she was going to be pissed.
... just kept quiet and stroked her hair.
lifted her one hand and hit him lightly. "If i ever catch y' drivin drunk, I'll kill y'. .. Make y' wish y' couldn' come back.." She added almost as an after thought.
rolls his eyes. "I've not done it since cars were basically invented. I learned quickly."
frowned at him, but nodded a little. "Good." She shifted and started to sit up, leaning against the head board. "Søren.. I want t' go home.." She was sure that she wouldn't be allowed to though.
sighs. "Ye can't. Don't be stubborn. Ye need to rest and stuff..."
frowned a little, closing her eyes tight. "'M fine.. Jus' banged up.." She started to sit up again, really wanting out of that bed, being stubborn as normal.
kept her down, shaking his head. "Ye're not leavin' this bed tonight..."
groaned a little angrily. "Why? Den.. Søren.. I've been worse.."
