had gotten a good beaten at the end of the war, on top of a huge emotional betrayal and blamed for absolutely everything. His economy was in shambles trying to pay off the amount in war reperation...he had no
idea where he was going to get the money to pay everything and his strength was depleting leaving him exhausted when usually he could go for hours non-stop. He honestly didn't expect anyone to visit as he
slaved away making cuckoo clocks in his house having already worked out in the fields and needing something less strength orientated so he could sit down and keep from shaking. He looked like shit for lack of
better words and now he knew exactly what the Turk had been talking about.
told his men to wait outside as he went to knock on the door of the German's place. He didn't wait for an answer though as he let himself inside. "Germany?"
in his study working on the inner works of the damn clock when he hears his door creak open and a familiar voice. His eyes had lost it's usual fire and had taken on a dull look. He gently eases himself up with
a slight gasp of pain before making his way to the front. "Turkey..." He greets his face pastier than usual.
looked him over as he closed the door behind him, his mask made expression unreadable, as he examined him. "Did I not tell you?"
sighs not wanting to hear this from Turkey of all people. He runs a shakey hand through his faded locks. "Is that the only reason you came over here?"
shakes his head as he moved around him and into his living room. "No I came to see how you were fairing. After I heard about everything that happened on your end, well I can't say I pity you Ludwig."
didn't want anyones pity. "So how do I look?" He's lips are set in a thin straight line. He turns to face the man having to hold onto the wall for support. He was pathetic right now.
raised a brow at the question before he looked around the living room area for a moment. "Like a nation who made the wrong choice and had his ass handed to him." He motioned to a couch. "Sit down before you
does as instructed. He didn't want to make an even bigger fool of himself as he did. He doesn't say anything merely sitting there, hands in his lap and gaze fixed on the ground.
took a seat across from him, and continued to watch him for a bit. "I'll make you some dinner."
glances up through the silence curious to the lack of conversation on the others part until Sadik finally speaks up. He doesn't say anything but leans back on the couch, his body shaking at the strain of all
the work and suffering his people were going through.
got up from the couch and went to his kitchen. "You'll get used to the pain."
doesn't want to get used to it. "That's reassuring." He says his voice filled with sarcasm.
shrugs as he looked through his kitchen to see what he could find to cook. "Didn't say it was fun." He found some chicken and potatoes and he sighed a bit as he found spices.
didn't have enough money to buy very much anymore. Things were becoming much to expensive and he'd rather his people buy them then him. "Sorry for the lack of selection...I can't afford very much anymore."
shrugs as he set about cooking. "That's fine..." he hadn't really been expecting much. He paused to go to the door and asked his men to bring him the package he'd brought.
slowly eases himself up as he start back to his studies. "I hope you don't mine. I need to get work done. Call me when it's ready." He had already wasted enough time as it was.
nods as he got the package from one of his men and brought it into the kitchen. "Yes yes, work."
back in his study working on those damn clocks France and England had asked him for, as if his punishment couldn't get any worse.
had brought enough food and other supplies to last the German a while as he set about cooking something he was more comfortable with cooking.
working hard but soon he found himself dozing off until he was fast asleep. His hammer was still in his hand and it looked as if he were readying to hammer a nail into his project.
came in to find him when he was done and frowned a bit at his state. He moved to take the hammer out of his hand before he nudged him awake.
blinks warily as he tries to make sense of his surroundings before he spots the Turk beside him and flushes. His eyes fall back on his work and he can't help the frown that appeared on his face. "I didn't mean
to do that..." He trails off as he grabs his screw driver to continue working on it.
sighed and pulled the screw driver out of his hand. "Come on get up." He set it aside and helped him up. "Food is good for you."
could have gotten up without the others assistance but was grateful for it regardless as he follows the Turk to the kitchen. His stomach already growling when he smells the food. He couldn't remember the last
let go of him when he got up. He set the plates out and poured Germany a glass of milk. "Sit and eat, I didn't come here just to see you falling apart."
sat down and quirks a brow at the Turk. "So then why did you come here?" He asks grateful for the milk. He hadn't had any milk for months. That was also too expensive.
had thought enough to bring some of it with him. He took his own seat and grinned over at him. "I came because if it weren't for you I would be in much the same state as you are right now if not worse."
had wanted to keep to the agreement of their alliance. "You'll still have money for the railroad....I made sure of that before the war ended." He says a little to devoid of emotion.
shrugs a bit at that as he pushed his plate of food closer to him. He'd made a chicken curry dish over rice and some fresh vegetables. "Yes I am glad for that. I'm not here to discus that though. I'm here to
make sure you're fed well."
stare at the food with such pain as he grabs his utensils and starts on the food. He couldn't remember anything tasting so good in his exitance...or at least anymore he couldn't.
ate his own food quietly, drinking the water he'd poured himself. "So I never did hear the full reasons, why did Francis and Arthur deal you such a harsh punishment?"
sighs at the mention of Francis. "Arthur hates me and has been wanting to put them blame on me for a long time. Francis..." He grows silent pain flickering across his expression before disappearing. "Well...I
may have over stepped our relationship when I invaded him."
snorts a bit at that as he pushed his plate away from himself. "Yes I would say you did if he's putting you through this much pain."
it would have been just as bad even if he hadn't. He can't finish his food finding that his stomach had shrunk consideralby over the months. "It was really good." He compliments. "Danke."
looks at his plate and nods a bit. "Yes well go get some sleep, your clocks can wait till the morning."
shakes his head. "I'll help you clean the kitchen...and then I need to get back to work." He says as he goes to get up and gather some of the dishes.
frowns at him and got up taking the dishes from him. "No, go to bed." He gave him a stern look with that. "You're work can wait till the morning."
doesn't think Sadik has the right to order him around but doesn't say anything regarding that. "And what about you? It would be rude of me to sleep when I have a guest over."
stared at him with that, he had every right to order him around right now. "I will survive, I'll make up the guest room. I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon."
him a displeased look before heading up the stairs to the bedroom. He made sure to make the guest room mostly for his own satisfaction and to irritate the Turk a little before he heads to his room and collapses
onto the bed without changing. He didn't have that kind of energy anymore.
finished cleaning up the kitchen before he head upstairs and checked on him. He looked the German over on his bed and sighed as he made sure he was comfortable and pulled the blanket over him.
shifted slightly when the blankets are pulled over him, his eyes opening as he stares at the Turk. "Is it morning?" He asks his voice filled with sleep.
shakes his head as he finished. "No, you've slept for ten minutes. Now go back to sleep."
sighs softly, his eyes drooping closed and he relaxes into his mattress. A part of him was thankful for the Turks insistence.
went to have his men bring his things into the guestroom before he sent them off telling them he'd send for them soon enough.
wakes up with a start in the early AMs, breathing in heavily and staring up at his dark ceiling before pushing himself up in a sitting position and running a hand through his hair. He reluctantly pulls himself
out of bed and goes off to wash his face before heading to his study, since he knew he wouldn't be finding any sleep any time soon and picking up the work he had left off.
woke up a few hours later, slowly getting himself dressed before he went to check on the German. He wasn't all that surprised to find him in his study instead of in his bedroom. Rolling his eyes he went to the
kitchen and made breakfast setting it out for the other.
rubs at his eyes as he sets the tools down, stretching with a slight grunt before heading to the kitchen having heard the Turk enter to
cook. He takes a seat looking a little better thanks to the good meal yesterday. "I don't think I'll be able to repay you for this." He
looked over at him as he set a plate of eggs with some cheese and some toast on the table in front of him. It was pretty western styled breakfast. "I don't expect you to."
, for some reason, can't believe that someone would do such a thing without wanting something back. Especially after what he had just gone through. "Excuse me if I find that hard to believe right now."
smirks at that as he ate his own breakfast quietly. "I will get what I want from you eventully, but right now don't worry about it.'
studies him with slight suspicion but he couldn't say he wasn't glad the Turk was here. He starts on his breakfast enjoying another full meal as much as he could.
sipped at the coffee he'd made, thankful he'd brought his own coffee maker with him.
actually able to finish his meal as he sits back in his chair with a satisfied sigh. He couldn't help but wonder what the Turk would want from him...he really had nothing more to give.
wouldn't ask him for anything now. He smiled at him when he realized he'd finished his food. He finished his own and got up to clean the table. "Go get some more sleep. You wont be able to work off your debt if
can't keep sleeping. The work needed to be done. "I can't go to sleep, I don't think you understand how much I owe...if I don't work my people suffer."
watched him quietly for a moment before he moved over to him and patted him on the head. "Sleep. You'll get your work done but right now you're not fit for it."
quirks a brow a the pat and decides that he will go to his room and he just won't tell Sadik that he's actually working. He gets up with a slight frown before exiting the kitchen hoping the man would be to
preoccupied with cleaning before heading to his study grabbing the tools and material needed before heading up to his room and closing the door. He sets everything down on the floor and sits down leaning
against his bed as he works. Sadik just didn't understand.
understood, he just thought the German was acting like a petulant child again. He finished cleaning and went to check on him, he frowned when he saw him working but didn't bother to say anything as he went to
attend to some of his own work instead.
hadn't heard his door open nor the Turk poke his head in but he was glad that the other didn't say anything. The more he got done the faster he'd reach his goal. He could rise up from the ashes...he had too.
hoped he wasn't considering trying to actually repeat this whole thing. He got most of his own work done throughout the day.
would never consider repeating a World War and it hadn't been his fault. If his alliance with Austria hadn't forced his hand, he was sure it could have all been avoided.
doesn't think so, but he wasn't going to say as much. He had one of his men make dinner instead as he went to go check on things with the rest of them at the hotel they were staying in.
glad for the lack of disruption as he became absorbed in his work trying to erase the memories of the Treaty of Versailles and the embarssement he had had to face that day.
// The solider went to inform him dinner was done and that Sadik would be absent. He apologized for interrupting the other in his work.
had stared at the man curiously before nodding and getting up making sure to pause for a few seconds to admire the line of clocks he had finished making and then heading down stairs. He sat in the kitchen alone
eating the food, which again, was good and far from disappointing. When he had finished, had tried to help the soldier clean but was refused and begged to go get some sleep or else Sadik wouldn't be pleased. He
let out a sigh finding it useless to argue before heading to his study to grab more materials and then back up to his room.
came back later in the evening and sent the solider home before he went up to make sure the German was actually in bed. "Ludwig... you are going to work yourself to death."
had fairly large bags under his eyes and the line of clocks now took up half the room. "...better me than my people..." He says as he tweeks something in the clock he had been working before placing it in the
rolled his eyes at that as he stepped into the room and moved over to him, he picked up off the floor and dumped him on the bed. "Sleep."
lets out a gasp as he's picked up and dumped on the bed. He lets out a growl as he pushes himself up trying to get out of bed.
glared at him and moved to pin him to the bed. "I told you to sleep Ludwig, you should take one piece of my advice. Seeing as you ignored the rest and it put you here."
struggles for a bit before giving up knowing full well he wouldn't be able to get out. "I can't break an oath to my Kaiser...how could I follow your advice when I don't have free-will...in certain decisions
concerning me." He growls. "You said that yourself as well."
held him there a bit longer before he got up, "yes well now you don't have to worry about that. Get some sleep. You wont be able to help your people if your unable to work."
in nodding weakly before closing his eyes and falling asleep a lot quicker than he had thought possible. Maybe he was a lot more tired than he thought he was.
waited till he fell asleep before he left the room.
slept through the night this time and even through the morning finding it hard to wake himself up from such a deep slumber. His body protesting to get out of bed wanting to remain. A demand he couldn't even
