my cat just went fucking insane and attacked the fuck out of my hand - and we're talking deep bites, little fangs making puncture wounds.

:-o Cats'll do that from time to time. Jeez....

She's never done this before. The worst she would do is nip and take swipes at EvilBenFranklin and I. This time, though, I had to make the

bleeding stop and then wrap my hand in gauze because she'd bit so many places on my hand before I got her to stop. This was BAD.

It's a good thing I have my First Responder certification or I wouldn't have ever created a crash kit like I have. It came in use today.
isle says
That is horrible. Hope it isn't a sign of impending psychosis.
reese says
I put her in her carrier, though. I've only done that to her one other time, so she knows she messed up big time.
reese says
She was already a bit on the lunatic fringe . . . She seemed to be getting better, isle. I dunno what caused this. It makes me sad, though.
isle says
does she have kittens? or getting to be around a year old?
reese says
She's about five and she's spayed, so she's never had - nor can she have - kittens.
reese says
She doesn't go outside, either. I think we're going to have to take her to the vet and see if we can figure out what's going on here.
isle says
wow then, can't really figure what would trigger that kind of behavior then... seems a bit extreme for jsut a 'mood'
reese says
*nods* . . . It does to me, too. I'm quite stumped by this one.
isle says
hope your hand gets better fast, bet it will be sore as hell. Something about cat bites and scratches, they have a little extra "hurtyness'
reese says
It stings and is sore now. I'm hoping t doesn't last too long. Thank you, isle for wishing me well. My luck sucks this week, it seems.
EvilBenFranklin

The only thing I can figure is, she's still a little freaked out by the move - the only other time she's gotten me that bad was when...
Philly

be careful with those punctures. Cats have a nasty bacteria in their mouth thats good for causing infection.
EvilBenFranklin
...she was really, REALLY freaked out, and I tried to pet her to calm her down.
reese says
Eep! I didn't know that, phillygirl! And with my immune system being dow because of this flu thing . . . Oi vey.
reese says
Yeah, but she didn't seem freaked, hon. She was quiet and purring and walked up to me and then when I put my hand out, she spazzed out.
Philly

it'll be ok, soak hand in warm slightly salty water to keep the puncture clean. If its open try and get some antibiotic oinkment in there ;-)
isle says
sounds like she jsut took a moody notion to be killer cat. I have read somwehre that certain chemical additives or foods can affect mood
isle says

vet could likely help when you go in
reese says

So noted, phillygirl and isle. All of that is very helpful information to have because I had no idea on either count. I'm clueless here.

Sorry to know that. Maybe the cat's stressed from the move?
EvilBenFranklin

I noticed last night while you had incense burning that she was acting a little different than normal.
EvilBenFranklin

Alternately stalk-y and lovey. She let me pet her for about 10-20 minutes, which is not usual for her.

Please go get a tetanus shot if you're not up to date on that, reese. I had a cat bite and it got infected within a day.
TrinitySerpentine says

I'm so sorry about your kitty being highly stressed right now, I agree with Mo it's probably from the move.
TrinitySerpentine says

Feoria lost it when we moved her and she's been a bit skittish ever since.
Philly

agrees with trinners, less then 12 hours for infection to set in if its a puncture...
reese says

She's been more lovey than anything, at least toward me. This attack of hers was a complete hundred and eighty turn from the last few days.

Pinball's always been a little unhinged, and she'd spent most of her life in the old apartment. I hope she settles down soon.

Yeah, Pinball's always been an indoor cat. The one time she got out, she got rained on. Hasn't tried to escape again.
