I like the alliteration....do we want to focus on transforming teaching or transforming learning? Does the wording change our approach?

shirky17: Great questions. My initial contention is transforming the teaching will affect learning and all teaching outcomes. The old Cause and Effect dynamic.

that is our hope...i keep reading so much about student centered etc. that my first thought for titles should have student in them, but the teachers need to transform education to student centered approach

shirky17: exactly. Student centered does not mean teacher eliminated. I think the teacher is still the focal point, and can determine the direction their teaching and student learning goes

If we introduce technology and the students still don't learn, can we blame the computer and stop harassing teachers?

true and I have to agree with mweisburgh

mweisburgh: if we introduce technology and the students "still" don't learn, then we need to accept some realities of the student. Plus how would we define learning?

I have seen, many times, students that don't learn with tech, a text book, or a dynamic teacher. They were checked out, before they checked in

one of the main themes of this keynote is how we can leverage the use of technology to transform our teaching. Not a panacea, but most definitely a contemporary approach to teaching and learning
