Strange week. My boss got re-appointed chairman of our committee on Wed (hurrah)! I got promoted to legal counsel for the committee on Thursday (awesome!) & got a great raise, BUT wife just got laid off today &
my raise came at the expense of my colleague & bff getting shafted for no good reason, which I'm really pissed off about. I even argued with boss man to either level our salaries or raise hers, but no go

I'm really happy about the promotion, especially because its in the policy area I'm into & we might actually we doing something on the issue this year. Also, the raise helps blunt the worry over wife's lay off
And wife was really unhappy at her job & wanted to leave, but just wanted to do it in her own time/way. But perhaps this is a blessing in disguise; kick in the pants so she can find something she actually likes
