are there no solvents that will dissolve the adhesive without messing up the plastic?

quick search indicates some folks are suggesting a citrus based solvent used gently and carefully on a soft cloth.

I use Goo-Gone gel. Strong enough to soften the glue without eating the plastic bits. Still gotta scrape though.
