i feel i'm very approachable and easy to talk with... i wish some would have come to me and talked first. would be nice to have a discussion before opinion is laid out...just saying.
i have no idea what's going on, but i agree
I can understand you feeling that way. However, I tried very hard to make the focus of my column on my criticism of Linden Lab's failure to represent the many other communities and not any criticism of the
individuals who are chosen by the Lab to shoot photographs. I have no criticism of you. I think you have every right to be on the front page and don't think you are part of the problem. I am sorry that you feel
that I was criticizing you. That was not my intent and I regret that I did not make that clear enough.
CajsaLilliehook: also cajsa... that column is about "what i like", i was very surprised to read something like that there... not that opinion is bad. but i wish you would have talked to me.
i would have happily shown you what i had submitted or how they asked, it's very very limited info and we have no idea how our photos will come out.
Well, that would be beside the point. The issue is not with the quality of your photos at all. The only thing I dislike about them is that LL does not let you shoot your own backgrounds.
And the Lab sticks those cartoony backgrounds on which is sad, because you would do a much better job.
My issue is not with your photos, it is with Linden Lab not asking role players, fantasy avatars, folks in sports, etc.
CajsaLilliehook: i appreciate you saying cajsa... i just... sorry i felt very surprised and sad. and there have been different people selected. and although you may consider me fashion... i rp too.
Yeah, if only LL had let you shoot that!
See, that's the problem - the person doing the selection is not showing more than one facet of SL
I don't want to talk about the person doing the selection because they really have proved how unprofessional they are when I emailed them and sent them a nc inworld asking for explanation on how my pic was
stolen and put on the frontpage without any credit or anything and they never even bothered replying.....
CajsaLilliehook: i always appreciate your thoughts on SL... you are a great supporter of all things SL and i always loved that you promoted the amazing photographers. i think we all do that in our own way...
Vixie, when I read Cajsa's blogpost I didn't think she was criticizing the work of the photographers, quite the contrary actually. I loved your picture and all those what were picked so much. IMHO Cajsa's
article didn't come off as negative to you guys doing a great job but negative towards LL.
i tried to put a lot of thought in what i did for the front page... but honestly i did feel when she said the same people were selected again and again. that seemed to be a dig at those that were chosen.
this was my 2nd time invited. we can invite another avatar to join us... and i chose the very sweet sophia. and yes mavi i did get she was not happy with how it's handled by LL but this plurk was to share ...
not at all!!!! Only too bad that LL ignores the vast diversity and awesome of SL by picking the same kind of images over and over and not even allowing you to take the full pic!
that i know i have tried to submit different facets of SLife... with other avatars, rp, etc.
VixieRayna: I am glad you shared your feelings. I would hate for you to continue thinking I was criticizing you and clearly I did not succeed in making my point crystal clear that I meant no criticism of
you or the other participants.
i don't think that was so much shared in the article. but yes i wish we could turn in TRUE photos of SL on location versus green screen. & i hope they will start to chose more peeps from the SL Official group
CajsaLilliehook: thank you for saying and i do hope this helps make the frontpage better. because i do know you well enough that you only want to make it better.
Thank you for that, Vixie. There was a reason I did not appoach you or any of the other participants. It was because I really did not want it to be about your participation - and did not want to involve you.
I think approaching you all would have made it more about you - and less about my real concern, the lack of representation of other elements of SL.
CajsaLilliehook: understood... but also you would have known that we have tried submitting things that do fit the themes you mentioned but that LL did not select them.
VixieRayna: That only reaffirms my critique which is that the onus is on Linden Labs, not the participants, for the homogeneity on the front page.
Anyway, I am glad you spoke up. I would hate for you to harbor hurt feelings and anger without a chance for me to talk to you about it.
ebbiibbe: Well, there is some diversity in the Second Life Official group, if they go to there, that would not require them to scour for options.
in the end it's what LL selects as their choice for their image.. even if they are inviting residents to contribute. it's whatever fits that editor AND corporate's eye.
