When I was a kid, I petted one at the Grand Canyon. My Grandmother was so pissed at me, because she was positive it was gonna give me rabies.

I'm only a few hours' drive away (in one of those other New England states) and we have a crapload of squirrels here but no chipmunks...

Chipmunks are such cute little assholes. We had them all over my parent's backyard when I was a kid.

Then a bunch of yellow jackets took over their burrows when they left. :|
