It was white, soaked 24 hrs in water with crushed Spanish saffron (1/2 a Badia pack) and some kosher salt.

24 hours? That's long.. how bout using Indian yellow spices? It will take only an hour?

It's my thing, you don't have to do 24, I just find it soaks in a lot more flavor. Just pop it in a pot with a lid, set over night. The put ovr heat until boils, remove, let sit, fluff, eat

Doesn't come out all sticky, nice light and fluffy. I don't add oils or butter.

Some rices do much better with a nice soak. It's one of the usual instructions for Japanese rice, in fact.

I might have to try that with the yoghurt whey - I keep some probiotic on hand for the dogs, and can pour off into my rice cooker instead.
