movie prop? it's a fleur de lis, on a sheriff's star, on a castle, etc...
hubby thinks its a masonic / fraternal organization thing...
it looks like a clan badge to me?
I picked it up at an estate sale with no other information on it.
and a google image search doesn't bring up ANYTHING similar.
looking to see if he can find if it is, and which one - Rrish; its the crest of a scottish or irish clan.
nothing is coming up, damnit. Looking at the chain I'd now propose maybe its a mayoral crest instead.
i dont think its masonic could be some othe organization tho
it is a proper mystery whatever it is. I'm throwing it out into a bunch of my social media connections, figured I'd sic the internet on it.
Here's something similar, that doesn't help me identify mine but it verifies that this isn't some one-off thing...
Pin
and I've ruled out Scottish rite, masons, knights of columbus, knights templar...
If I keep searching these "secret societies" and I were a conspiracy theorist, I might be afraid of having my house broken into. o.0
with the Fluer de Lis I would think maybe something french
Reminds me of the symbol for the Order of the Eastern Star, which my mother told me was like a girl's masonic order
the chain indicates that it is for an "official" purpose, masonry and stuff have indeed likely ones.
I think it's possibly related to an accademic association, It also looks as a cheap reproduction lacking jewels and a variety of metals, I might say accademic secret society ritual necklace.
Playboy mansion participation badge?
I'm still not really sure. It definitely isn't a "high quality" piece. It looks like it was made in all 1 piece as opposed to layered like you'd expect.
Some of the other suggestions from other social media sites have been "European Masonic" which I don't agree with... I think the masons symbol is pretty consistent across the globe.
Or other people think it's made up.
I've seen other "faux heraldric" stuff online made by vintage jewelry designers and they tend to have regular chains.
