Plantlike monster from the Final Fantasy series! They've been one of the critters kicking around out in the Wastes.
They give you horrible status affects. Like, any and all, they'll give it to you. Poison, blind, silence...all that good stuff.
They are pretty freaky and gross

It depends, I think. In some FF games, especially older ones, some effects DO last until you get them cured. Blind may have been one. And Malboros are in basically all of them.
And Seph might actually announce it once he finds the things are running around the city.
Yeah. The only one I could really think of that gave a sense of in-game time vs. real life time was 11, though x:
