with his platoon, excited to get out. But he was still worried about the others arm... He hoped he'd run into him at some point. And that he was alive.
knew that the Dane had worried about his arm after he'd gotten shot, but he thought it was unecessary, the pain was hardly there anymore if he kept it relaxed.
still thought it could easily become an issue. One awkward fall, or even if it was over used. He just didn't want the other to push himself.
wouldn't, he knew what would happen if he were to damage it even further. He really had been lucky that the shot had caused him hardly any damage.
wouldn't have known what to do if the other was faitally wounded. He just knew he'd feel responsible. He was glad to get the word to move out, keeping up with his platoon.
followed in march with his on platoon, idly chatting with some of the others as they walked, talking about how much resistance they would get, and which platoons they would be meeting with.
had no idea which platoons he'd be meeting with. He just knew there'd finally be some action..
had reached the meeting spot pretty fast, it only being a few miles from the camp. He sat down on the bank a bit away from the others looking around, idly wondering if Søren's platoon would be joining them.
saw the town a bit in the distance, already noticing some other platoons were already there. He was wiggling and excited to try and find the other... He just needed to be given the order to break and he'd begin
double checked his rifle again whilst waiting for the advance order. According to others there were only a small group of enemy soldiers in the town, it having already been evacuated, so there would be no
chance of civilians getting hurt, which was always a plus.
instantly broke off from his platoon when they were given the order and went on the hunt. The German was the only thing on his mind right now...
looked up when the saw the new platoon disperse among the rest, seeking out there friends in the other. He wondered again if the Dane could be with them.
finally saw the other and made his way over, happy their platoons were actually working together now. When he got to the other though the only thing he could look at was his arm.
didn't notice the Dane at first, still scanning the crowd as though he hasn't expected Søren to seek him out first
smirked and walked up behind him, glad he wasn't noticed. He pressed himself against the others back and covered his eyes.
surprised for a moment, alert and about to react, when his body remembered not to do that, because the touch was familiar. He smiled to himself, not even trying to break free from the others hold. "Hey"
smiles and drapped his arms over the others shoulders and glanced down at his arm. "How ye holdin' up?"
rolled the damaged shoulder to show how good it was doing. "Hardly any pain, I'll be fit as fiddles in a couple weeks... You're not still blaming yourself for what happened, are you?"
muffled his voice on the others back. "Maybe..."
sighed to himself, craning his neck to turn his head as he tried to look at the other. "You have to stop that, Søren. Casualties happen in war, and if you react like this at what is essentially nothing more
than a graze, then I might start regretting talking to the officers to convince them you were ready..."
shakes his head. "It's only 'cause it's ye. As terrible as it sounds, if a comrade of mine gets hurt, I just push on... I never look back."
chuckled. "And what's so special about me, that you react like I had a near death experience when I get shot?"
huffs. "If I just got to him beforehand..." He slumped against the other, pouting more.
shook his head. "You couldn't even see the guy, Søren. Stop kicking yourself over something that's already dead and gone. What'll it take to make you stop blaming yourself?"
shrugs as he held the others jacket a bit. "I dunno. I'm normally not this guilty 'bout somethin'."
chuckled. "Well then stop feeling so guilty about it, I'm not anyone special, you shouldn't be fretting over me like this just because of a small scratch"
pinched his arm. "Ye're a friend. That's somethin' special to me."
oddly touched by the statement, even though he'd seen Søren as a friend for quite a while. "Thanks. You're a friend to me too, which is almost a complete anomaly, so yeah, it's special as well"
smiled and finally pulled himself off the other. "So I guess our platoons are workin' together. Do ye know what's happenin'? I didn't really hear the commander."
chuckled. "Somehow that doesn't surprise me. We're just clearing out that town up there" he pointed at the deserted concrete buildings in the horizon. "Scouts say it's already evacuee, just a small Laurasia
platoon keeping it so they have the small gain. But we'll have to be careful, overhead fire is dangerous if you don't know where it's coming from, which is basically 95% or the time"
nods at that. "So. I got yer back ye got mine, ja? We can take this."
nodded as well, grinning at the other, gla that he's finally found someone he could trust with his life. "Definitely"
smiled and patted his back. "I'm gonna go find out where to put my stuff and where to check in with my platoon, but trust me, when the order is given to attack I'll be by yer side."
nodded at the other. "I didn't expect any less"
smiles and waved as he walked off to figure out what he had to do.
went to join the rest of his platoon also, awaiting orders. He figured he'd be either up front or on sniper-watch, that was where the most experienced were usually put anyway, the newbies would all be placed
in between those two positions, being used as what was essentially cattle-fodder for the enemy. He just hoped that he'd be able to keep Søren out of harms way during the operation.
would probably run from his position to stay with the German... he was often forgotten about as it were. He just waited until he was told to go near the front... Which he didn't want to do.
slightly dissapointed when told he'd been put on sniper duty, he wanted to be a part of the action, but hadn't been alowed it due to his injury. He hooked his rifle over his shoulder more and got in line.
followed the orders at first, heading towards the front lines. He didn't want to admit that he was nervous, but he couldn't deny the fact. He just hoped the other didn't die while away from him..
spotted the tell tale blonde messed up hair near the front of the group and felt his heart drop instantly. He didn't want to see the Dane be one of the first in, and get shot right in front of his eyes.
didn't want to be shot ever. He just breathed slowly, keeping his finger off the trigger until the time came. He still looked for the other, hoping silent he'd be near him... but that would be pushing his luck.
didn't care what his orders were. He'd witnessed himself the day before how shaky the other was with the gun. When the orders to go came, he would run up and grab the other, before pulling him back to safety.
would be relieved if he knew that. For the mean time he just kept his back against the barrier, rifle pointed up until the call. He knew he could do this, he just wasn't fully sure what to expect.
did another quick check of his rifle, before starting up a breathing pattern, keeping his heart beat slow and steady so the adrenelin wouldn't ruin his aim completely. He may want to save Søren as best he
could, but he still had a duty to the military.
waited the moment until the call was given before running out with the surrounding soldiers, heading to a deserted building for shelter.
new that he couldn't run off just yet, he would need to scope out a few of the enemy first, which was easier than expected, as one appeared immediately in one of the top windows of the house that they were
charging. "Top right!" He shouted to the others who had been assigned to sniper lookout, and got down on one knee to take aim better, aimed and shot.
too distracted to even recognise his voice as he got into the action. He ran to another spot where he could just see above the ledge and aiming, shooting a few of the enemies. He seemed to have better control
couldn't help that his eyes darted to look at the Dane quickly after he'd shot a few more of the enemy. He was happy to see that the other seemed to have better control of his gun, but still wasn't happy that
he was up front. He'd have to figure out how to get to him as soon as he got a free second to think.
seemed to forget about everything around him and took a more authorative approach, even comanding a few people around him to cover as he ran to another barrier to get closer to them.
saw an opening for him to join the Dane and took it, darting across the streets of the town to come to a stop beside the Dane, back against the barrier. "How's it going up here then?"
panting quietly as he was reloading his rifle. "Heh, nice to see ye in one piece... it's goin' okay." He seemed to really have more control over himself, and the situation now. It's like he was a new person.
chuckled despite their situation. "I could say the same to you, though you seem to be taking out plenty of the Laurasia's on your own. Don't know what I was so worried about now"
licked his lips. "I shoud say I've got a lotta Viking blood in me... so when I'm in battle, I don't back down." He leaned over the edge again and shot a few more.
smiled at the other. "Better put that viking blood to use then, hadn't we?"
hums as he hid behind the barrier again. "Ja. Totally. I don't wanna put my ancestors to shame."
nods and grips his gun tighter. "Let's go then"
smiled to him, nodding as he stood up a bit to shoot at any enemy he saw.
got up also, checking for any moreof the enemy before charging the house, checking every few seconds that the Dane was still behind him
close behind, and had his back, just as he promised. He cleared a few rooms as they passed, making sure they'd not get a surprise attack.
kept his eyes open at all times, checking every room and around every corner, before coming to a stop at the bottom of the staircase. The shooters had been on the second floor, and it was likely there were
noticed the other stopping and made a final check in a few rooms before glancing up the staircase. He didn't know how to go about this.
would rather the Dane stayed behind whilst he and some of the other more advanced soldiers took care of everything, but somehow he knew that if he wen't, the Dane would follow no matter what. He siged. "Ready?"
nods, gun at the ready. He started going first, figuring that if anyone should get shot it should be him. The other was a more worthy member of the platoon.
had wanted to go first really, but the Dane had already moved, and if he knew Søren was thinking that way he would probably have hit him. He followed the other anyway, keeping right behind him as they climbed.
figured too the other would be able to shoot enemies past him, since the Dane wasn't as broad as the German. He quietly got to the top of the stairs and peeked around the corner to see if the coast was clear.
stopped right behind the other, gripping his rifle tightly and calming his breathing again, readying himself for a quick and efficient shoot out.
slowly stepped out, aiming his rifle in front of him. Someone came out then, but he didn't give them a chance before shooting them straight between the eyes.
slightly taken aback by how accurate the other's aim was during such a high-adrenaline operation, but didn't say anything, instead, raising his own gun and checking the surroundings as he followed Søren.
kept close to the other, not wanting to risk anyone else getting between them. He checked the surroundings opposite of the other before pressing on to the last few rooms.
followed closely, almost glued to the other, making sure that he was at least covering the others back so no one could harm him from behind.
peeked into a few more rooms, clearing them. There was only one room left ahead of them and he turned to the other and smirked, wondering if he wanted to take it.
smirked to the other, understanding what the other was thinking and nodded, taking the lead and turning into the room to see two Laurasia soldiers stood in the far corner, guns raised. Ludwig fired a shot,
hitting one of them in the shoulders before firing another and hitting him in the chest. The other soldier fired at him, the bullet grazing his shoulder, before he managed to fire a last shot, which hit the
man right in the left eye.
close behind him after, watching as the scene unfolded in front of him. "Impressive. Though ye got hit..."
stepped into the room and kicked at the limp bodies of the Laurasians, making sure they were fully dead, before turning back to the Dane. He looked at his shoulder and noticed the blood that was starting to
seep through the material of his jacket. Taking in the frayed edges of the small hole and the amount of blood, he knew it wasn't that bad. "It's just a graze, calm down"
smiles a little. "Ja, I know. I won't be worried this time." He just put his pack down and looked through it. "Sit down."
raised an eyebrow at the other, but did as he'd said, not saying a word as he shrugged off his jacket, inspecting the scratch on his shoulder as he did.
pulled out some bandages and walked over to the other. "Shirt off."
still didn't question the other. Normally he wouldn't have bandaged such a small wound, but he didn't want the Dane to worry like the last time, and did as he said.
just wanted to show off his bandage skills. He went and cleaned it up before bandaging it up. "There! All good."
chuckled at how proud the other looked and smiled at him. "It really wasn't necessary, just a scratch... But thank you anyway"
smiles and patted the wound. "Ye never know." He went to go put the bandages away before going to the soldiers and seeing if they had anything of value on them, as well as any kind of personal item on them.
watched the Dane as he pulled his shirt and jacket back on again, grabbing his rifle as he stood up again. He'd never been one for looting, but didn't comment on it when the Dane checked the Laurasia soldiers.
more so looking for personal items that he could send to the soldiers families once this war was over...
that that was extremely sentimental had he known the Dane's intentions. "We should probably go regroup"
nodded as he found a few things. "Ja, I'm ready." He put his pack back on and headed out.
followed behind the other contemplating the back of the Dane's head as they walked, trying to understand him, even though it seemed impossible.
got out of the house and looked around. "Do anymore houses need to be searched?"
looked around too. "I think some of the other groups are searching the others. I didn't see anyone in them on the way in though, and scouts did only report one group. Who are now presumably all dead"
smiles at that. "Awesome. We did well then. And now this area is ours... it's a good back up base."
nodded. "And maybe if we're lucky, there'll be a bed in one of these houses we could sleep in tonight, before we get more orders."
smirks and raises his brow at the other. "Are ye suggestin' somethin, Ludwig?"
rolled his eyes at the Dane. "In your dreams, Søren"
licked his lips. "If ye insist." He hummed innocently as he continued to walk back to where their control was to help move things into the now occupied town.
rolled his eyes at the other behind his back, well knowing that he couldn't see it, before he followed the Dane, not being able to stop himself from wondering if Søren had meant it as a joke or not.
always liked having that sense of ambiguity to him. He picked up a few heavy supplies and brought them into a building that woul be used as the new headquarters for now.
grabbed a couple of the things that were waiting to be brought to the new HQ as well, and followed the Dane. He could feel the adrenaline leaving his body slowly, and tiredness seeping through. God could he use
could tell the other looked tired and asked if much else needed to be done. Most of the other soldiers had things under control so he looked to the other. "Ready to find a nice room to share?"
looked at the other, ready to say that they didn't need to share, there were plenty of other rooms, but stopped himself, realising that he actually wanted the Danes company right now. He smiled. "Sure"
hummed as he walked through the town, looking at houses that weren't already claimed. "I'll let ye pick. We can even make it homey and all that stuff."
sighed to himself, looking up at the houses. "You can chose if you want, all I need is a bed and a good nights rest"
hummed some more as he looked around, finding one that was near the back. It was away from the other houses, but not so much to make them a target. He went inside, rifle at the ready for any surprises.
almost to tired to pay attention to his surroundings, though he did grab his rifle also, checking behind then as they started to make sure the house was 100% clear.
found it was clear quickly, and he picked a rather nice house... it was a good size for them to sleep in, and even rest. He smiled and ran up the stairs after. "I call dibs on the Master bedroom!"
smiled to himself as he followed up the stairs, taking it slower than the Dane.
smiling a bit when he got to the room. It was bigger than he thought, and in an instant he was jumping up onto the bed.
reached the top of the stairs and glanced into the master bedroom to see Søren spread out on the bed, the image making him smile. He then proceeded down the hall to what he'd guessed was the second room, but
when he turned the corner he was severely disappointed. The room was in a mess, drawers pulled out and flung across the room, shelves half attached to the wall and the mattress half way across the room from
the bed. He sighed to himself, way too tired to even think about tidying it up. Instead he sighed, turning on his heel to walk back to the master bedroom, waiting at the door, not quite sure what to say.
still sprawled out and looked at him upside down, his head being off the back edge. "So, like yer room?" He wiggled a bit, but ended up falling off the bed because of that and cursing quietly as he rubbed his
couldn't help but laugh at the Dane, but tried to hide it as a cough instead, though not very successfully. "The room's trashed. Completely. And I can't be bothered to sort it out, not right now at least."
stuck out his tongue as he knew the other was laughing at him. "Well, this is the master bedroom. M'sure the bed's big enough for the both of us." No way was he going to give up the bed completely.
nodded, murmuring a quick thanks as he took a step closer to the bed, stripping off his jacket and shirt, both still bloodstained. "You sure it's ok though?" He asked, making sure it was ok with the Dane.
nods as he got up again and put his stuff over to his side. "Ja. If the other room is bad then I don't want ye workin' harder than ye gotta. And I wanna be yer roommate. I don't trust anyone else here nearly
smiled to himself as he folded the ruined clothes and laid them on the chair in the corner of the room. "Even though you've barely even known me for a week?"
chuckles. "Well, we've spent quite a bit of time together. Ye taught me how to clean a rifle quicker, hell, we've bathed together. Why not?"
chuckled. "You trust people way to easily, Søren. What if I'm really a spy?"
tensed a bit at that before smiling. "So what? Ye've not wronged me yet. I have no reason not to trust ye anyways."
eyed the other for a moment, before climbing into the bed on his side, finally starting to let the exhaustion take him.
hummed quietly as he took his boots off, not taking long to get his jacket off and tossed onto his pack. He stretched before taking his shirt off, letting it fall to the floor and sat on the edge of the bed.
glanced over at the Dane with a yawn, but instantly froze when the noticed the bandage on the others arm. That hadn't been there when they'd
gone swimming, had it? "Søren?" He asked hesitantly, "what's that on your arm?"
hummed and looked to him before getting comfortable in bed. "Oh, that. S'just a bit of a scratch. Medics thought it'd be worth fixin'."
nodded, though still not fully convinced. "Right..." He laid back down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. "Guten nacht, Søren"
smiled back to the other, noticing the tiredness in his eyes. He got comfy and brought the blanket up around his chest. "Godnat, Ludwig." He closed his eyes and started to fall asleep after.
