I mean I'm sure he's going to surprise us all and it'll be a grand old time but

Yeah, just The Fires of Pompeii would be fine, after all Colin Baker was in Arc of Infinity as Maxil, but John Frobisher was a big role in an entire season of Torchwood.

Exactly. I mean I thought Matt was going to suck after I saw him in Secret Diary of a Call Girl and I hated all the episodes he was in.

but he surprised me. Still not my favorite Doctor (I'm a 9 fan tbh) but he was entertaining

and he brought a lot of life and unexpectedness to the character that I really enjoyed

So I'm really hoping that it's going to turn out

but I'm still pissed that they didn't bother with casting someone who didn't already have a role

I recall one of the interviews with Moffat in the program having him say that he briefly thought of Capaldi last time and passed on him then. Which I think was the right choice.

Since Children of Earth was still fresh at the time.

It'll be interesting to see him in action though. I've enjoyed all 11 Doctors up until now after all.
