when i was 13 years old, i joined this internet forum about a cutesy video game. it was a nice, safe place until this internet troll started being overly rude and hurtful.
when i asked him to stop, he kept going on and on with his rude and hurtful words and made me cry and angry in real life. the admin banned him, and made a rule: "don't feed the troll."
that's when i learned the internet was not a nice and safe place. that's when i learned that people on the internet, whether they intended it or not, could provoke a lot of bad emotions in me, and letting those
there is a huge difference between a healthy debate and perpetuating an endless, pointless wank circle that just pisses off everybody.
i don't think most internet users these days understand that, tumblr users especially so.
i don't understand why people respond loudly and angrily to things they disagree with. look, i know some people have dumbass opinions, but that's because most people are dumbasses.
when you scream at them, they're just going to have their fingers stuck firmly in their ears and all you're going to end up doing is piss yourself off.
sometimes it's important to take a stand. i agree. but again, there's a difference between taking a stand and just setting off a chain reaction of wank.
i know i haven't always followed this. i get angry and scream about it online too, but i always feel like a complete dumbass after.
