I'd be kind of curious to hear about first-hand experiences too. It seems like a really low-cost, simple living room solution.
But I'm not sure for whom. Someone who doesn't yet have a HTPC/gaming console/media box/internet TV/internet BR.
people at work have them ordered, but not in the mail yet. Backordered long time.
doesn't remember exactly wht it does, but I remember it being redundant with a laptop and an HDMI cable.
My mother has one + likes it. She just bought it on a whim while at Best Buy a couple weeks ago. She bought me one, but I have yet to plug it into the television.
I don't think the likes of us are the target market. Unless for a secondary or tertiary TV
Yeah, basically it was $35 and I figured I could plug it into the living room tv, where we don't spend as much time.
It's for streaming stuff on a television. So if you have Netflix, or Hulu, or whatever, it does exactly what a laptop and an HDMI cable does, but without wires and such. And you can control it with a phone or
ipad or something. It seems really neat.
Or a Roku/Apple TV/PS3/360/etc. All of which are at least twice as much.
Exactly. So I mean, it's probably not meant for people who have already adopted the online streaming mentality, but more for people who are interested but don't want a huge box thing.
Also, the xbox dashboard has made it so I have to push the button like 8 times to even get into Netflix.
You can pin things on the xbox dashboard???
yup. One of many awesome and undiscoverable features. I think it's "Y" when you have the app highlighted.
I really wish 360 exposed these things and had a "recent" area like the One.
360 still hides your pins on the landing page. I think it's called pins or favorites.
there is a recents area on the 360 dash. I use it exclusively over the rest of the interface.
oh look at that. I use the pins but not that.
Why pins and recent aren't just separate top-level categories, I don't know.
because top-level categories require more button presses and the headers are harder to see?
what drives me insane is when i try to pull up "recent downloads" and the thing spins for minutes. if it's faster for me to find it by alphabetical order...
that's why I'd prefer top-level
