I don't like Skylar. Like, at all. I get her position, but I do not like her methods for handling things, nor do I find her very sympathetic as a character when she acts out sexually to hurt Walt.
Or claims to? IDK, I only just finished S2E3.
Either way, I find that repulsive.
Not saying I don't find things Walt or other characters do repulsive, because I do (and Fey's labeling the show to be more about the failings of humanity is SPOT ON, I think) but I just...
It really bothers me that she had to go down THAT route. That women are written that way so often, and sure maybe that's her character, but just. I think that took her from being an unlikable character in a
show, to being a deplorably written character? If that makes any sense.
I'm really starting to like Hank, Walt Jr. continues to grow on me, and I can't stop sadfacing at Jesse.
And I am straddling the fence eternally with Walt Sr.
I adore Gustavo so far. He's just...interesting. Saul is annoying. Jesse's uh...deceased girlfriend. That kind of broke my heart, her fall from grace. I really liked her.
And then she took such a wicked turn and... Well, it is what it is.
And in spite of liking or disliking characters or what's done with them, this show is amazing.
And now I want to punch Walt in the face.
...and wow I meant season 3. /facedesk
Hahah, I adore Skyler. I think she's as deeply flawed as almost every other individual in the show, and in many way a reflection of her husband (albeit less heinously)
(because cheating > leaving a woman to die - particularly after being the one to nudge her out of the position through which she should have lived.)
feygasm: I would dislike her a lot less if the whole cheating thing didn't come across as such a common plot device for angry women.
I mean, she is SMART. And I feel like that got overlooked in favor of sexy mom acting out times. And I abhor cheaters...rofl >>; Pissed me right off when Walt aimed for the same.
I do like the flaws, that isn't the issue. I just feel the writers could have made one of the most important ladies in the show flawed...less stereotypically?
But...we'll see how that opinion carries, I mean, if it turns out to be truly vital, then I have no complaints? And I may even like or dislike her more as the season goes on.
Although, I think the other issue regarding her for me is that she is an oblivious mother right now. Speaking as someone who had secrets about my dad kept from me for 18 years...that hurts more. So,
I do not agree with her hiding shit from Walt Jr. or from doing this crap right after her baby was born. It's just gross parenting. Not that Walt's is better, mind you.
