EVERYONE IS OOC AND THIS MOVIE MISSES THE POINT OF STAR TREK
IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT FINDING PEACEFUL WAYS OF DEALING WITH STUFF
AND KIRKS DO NOT JUST GO AND TRY TO KILL PEOPLE
there was an entire episode about kirk deciding whether or not to revenge-murder a guy who did really awful things THAT WAS AN IMPORTANT THING
it's a reboot of the original explains the ooc but Benedict Cumberbatch is inexcusable
^ This. I was quite pleased when both Kirk and Spock were out to punch his head into the nearest flat surface.
Honestly I have more complains about this film being Wrath of Khan 2.0 than anything else.
I know it's a reboot but it still bugs me D|
I'm incredibly torn about this movie u_u
on one hand, I really enjoyed it and it was a really intense ride, just from an emotional standpoint
it's regressive writing: the movie
I never saw Into Darkness, but it kind of reminds me of my beef with the first one. Like, the first movie wasn't a bad movie, but it felt more like a generic action movie instead of a Star Trek movie
at the same time I .......... don't know what it says that I knew everything that Jim was about to do
As far as sci-fi action, you could do worse, but it just felt off
I may or may not have said "No you're not" in the theater when he claimed to be Khan.
probably that I know nu!Kirk better than I expected
the unnecessary whitewashing
the complete un-Trek-ness
I KNOW
the only way I can really handle it is by viewing it from a strictly IC viewpoint
If they had to have Khan in this movie, perfect chance for an actual Indian actor to play him!
i would like this so much better if it wasn't star trek because it doesn't feel like it
because given time and a chance to rewatch the movie I could sit down and walk through nu!Kirk's decision making process and why he fucked up the ways that he did
and a movie in the 2010s should not have more white people than a movie from the 80s
if it wasn't Star Trek then it'd be a fantastic movie ahahaha
I loved the movie. It was a great, emotionally engaging movie. I still hate the casting.
I saw a hilarious idea in a fic though, addressing the Khan everything
what if they woke up some random guy on reboot!Khan's crew
agreed! but with the star trek stuff, it just feels wrong and ooc 8< and i grew up on star trek so it's bugging me SO MUCH not many things bug me but lieka sdkaf;lk I FEEL VERY BUGGED
(And spear me and hold me over a fire, but I loved how Carol was all "Uh, I told you to turn around" at Kirk without screaming and freaking out)
if only this movie wasn't star trek!!!
wrath of khan was a great movie on it's own, it didn't need to be done again. it's just going to bring comparisons to the first one
and why would you make khan white, i just. WHY.
you know what else really bugs me
why did they pull out Khan now
Because CUMBERBATCH Gene. CUMBERBATCH
...I just got Bentobox Cameltoe.
I don't know a whole lot about Star Trek, only seen random episodes and stuff so I can't claim I'm an expert and whatnot, but yeah I refused to see that movie. I saw the first one at a friend's house, but I
one of the things you can randomize is Butwhyiskhan Awhiteguy or something along those lines
I'm trying to find it but there are so many options
BREWERY ANIMORPH AHAHAHHAAH
I'm just going with "Dude fucking lied" right now and hoping for a movie to prove me right.
knew about the white washing of Khan and that was already annoying, but the fact that it was Benedict Cumberbatch make me REALLY not wanna see it two fold. But anyway, my bff was telling me all about the
I mean, who's going to know better? All the records from the 90s are fragmented and he's the only one awake to say so.
horrible stuff they did and I just noped outta there so hard.
god let me see if I can find the fic
Also I think they pulled out Khan so early because they thought it'd be a success because of the past trek record (yes I am keeping that typo) and they wanted to keep the momentum going from the first film.
okay googling what I thought was the title was not a good idea
"I'm so sorry, Jim, I can't," Khan gulped as he looked over Jim's body, ... NOPE
i think that going original could have worked better for it
they could have done anything else
Tell a new story! Tell us something about how the universe is coping with Vulcan going 'splody!
Tell us about the new politics of this Federation! Show us some of Kirk's shenanigans - and not exploding ships in a volcano
Hell, get the fucking Xindi! You already referenced Archer and the beagle in the first film, do something with the only good bad guy from Enterprise!
if you need a ridiculous villain, get the Q!
...No, better idea. Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Their five year mission: To find Archer's beagle.
okay crap I can't find it on my own, I'll send a PP to the person who found it in the first place and see if they could find it easier
Like that would sound any more ridiculous than "time travel to the past to get some whales to talk to a space probe."
the whale movie is the best movie in the series, the beagle thing could be awesome
Exactly!
KHAN WAS NOT THIS MUCH OF A DICK EITHER IN THE ORIGINAL
Unless you're Lieutenant McGivers, at least.
ack, remind me who that is? :B
The girl that falls in love with him from TOS.
Probably the dead wife that Khan mentions in Wrath of Khan.
ah, yes! but I think she would argue he was not a dick at all since she felll in love with him and married him
Yeah but grabbing her hand and then, to quote SF Debris, "forcing her down to blowjob level" doesn't exactly win him many points either.
Oh wait, from her perspective. Yeah, that I can agree on.
yeah. I guess a rewatch is in order...
