If I ever come visit, we have to out trail riding together.
damn girl I am jelly as fuck, that's absolutely beautiful
next time I visit LA I'm doing it to visit you that's it X|
Haha, please do come visit, both of you! The trails are beautiful here. Lots of natural California wilderness in LA county.
The water pictures were hard to take without blurring because Brego was either moving very quickly or, if I actually convinced him to stop, he was pawing relentlessly at the water.
Not sure if he was nervous or he just liked playing in the water. He wasn't scared of it at all and he's gone swimming in a lake before, so I think it's the later, lol.
And yes, he is VERY fuzzy. BLM Mustangs and other cold-blooded horses tend to grow in their winter coats very thickly and very early. He's already had his for a month.
On that trail he was little speed demon. I was so afraid he'd stumble and hurt himself so I kept pulling him back but he wanted to go. I think he was excited to be out on a real trail again.
So he worked up quite a sweat and I hosed him down afterwards and actually got some photos of him being clean and not coated in dirt!

It's hard to tell how fuzzy he is when he's all wet. He actually looks all sleek and shiny in these photos.
.... in that last picture, he almost looks marcelled -- he's not part Bashkir, is he??
No, he isn't. His fur is so long that it sometimes ripples a bit as he moves after he's been washed. It straightens out once it dries.
Though with his Spanish breeding he does have a naturally wavy mane and tail.
[nods] Bashkir Curlies are my best hope for being able to ride, since I'm allergic to horse.
I need to do something with these knees first, though ....
Curlies are great horses! Very sturdy and dependable. The Russians sheared their woolly coats to make clothing and even milked them for food. Actually, I'm sure there are some people who still do.
There's a place near here that raises them. Unfortunately, the current state of my knees precludes climbing onto a horse .... [sigh] One day ....
Oh, my gosh! Look at his really fuzzy new friend!
I love how the ginger came over to friend you, too.
Looks like he's really settling in well! Hurray that you found that place for him!
Thank you for sharing these! The photos are lovely, I didn't realize you are in/so close to the desert. Guess my CA geography is kinda lame. Awesome video!!
Oh yeah, most of California is an arid, desert or scrub-type environment. The southern coastal regions can be very tropical and anything above the timber line is redwood forest, primarily in NorCal.
Though, there are also some coniferous forest areas around the mid and northern coastal regions. California is beautiful and varied!
