When cooking, were often told to season with salt and pepper. Oftentimes, the pepper is completely unnecessary.

I don't like spicy stuff, including pepper, so I tend to leave it out, even for seasoning

LOL. I love the spicy! but I do leave out then pepper these days if I feel that its not going to contribute to the dish

I still put pepper but not much since my in laws have different preferences to pepper
