yup, refusimg a good offer is hard. Best is to be honest about how you feel and that you have moved away of being the tech-writ and end it with a good note that you will remember his good gesture for future?

it may help, though, to inform him if you know of anyone else whom you could recommend. but only if you have somebody in mind.

I thanked him for the offer but declined it because my current career is going well, and told him that I'd like to see where my development path takes me.

Hahaha he hasn't replied back to that yet.

My current market value is nearly three times what he used to give me at my old job, anyway. >_>
