ok, am doing my first playthrough of Dragon Age. (Yes, I do know how behind the times I am.) What are the opinions on DA2? Hearing mixed reports on that one.
I enjoy the simplified combat and I think the story is by and large ok, but for some reason some people think they RUINED IT 5EVR
I don't love the back and forth feeling of some of the quests and the reused environments too
The combat was different, more suited for console (which was fine since I played it on a PS3).
I think they tried too hard to be clever with the story, having things Not As They Seem to the point where one quest which really should have had an impact, I was waiting for the big reveal...
...on how it was Not The Way It Looked, which pretty much ruined what should have been one of the hardest hitting parts of the story.
The banter was really fun, and it was OK. I would have liked it better if I hadn't played DA first.
i wish I could ask you which bit you mean without spoiling for ocelott
there are a few story bits that are a bit LOOK AT OUR CLEVERY GOODNESS and this is entirely unearned
i played through DA multiple times...i still havent finished DA2

.... hope that helps
so basically, doesn't stand up to the first one, but not "AVOID AVOID" the same way as ME3.
yeah pretty much... both are enjoyable games but the first is so much more fun
I'd go along with that view of the two also, and put in a vote for continuing DA into Awakenings before jumping into DA2. Anders is so much more fun in Awakenings.
sweet, the husband actually did pick up Awakenings.
DA2 had some good ideas but as a whole the game is woefully undercooked and doesn't live up to any of them, let alone Origins.
While I appreciated the easier to manage skill trees, I hated the console style combat which made playing on a PC more trouble than before.
I'd definitely play Awakening first, by the way.
so I finished Origins. And immediately started again with a new character. DON'T SEND HELP, I'M FINE.
That's the beauty of Origins. You'll never see it all in one playthrough.
Sounds about right

And seconding Awakenings.

I finished DA2 and still ahven't finisehd DA
Raena got it 100% correct. I really enjoyed the story and characters. It diverges from the usual Bioware story structure, which some people got bent out of shape over.
I liked not having Origins or awakenings around to influence me with Anders
but that's just me. I've never been able to finish Origins because I had rotten luck--too many computers that fail in mid-game for one reason or another
also, how do I translate spoilers?
And yeah
PrincessArtemis I get what you mean. It was an unearned sense of tension, not the same one i was referring to before, but still totally undeserved and a bit TOO CLEVER.
Ya. When it wasn't doing stuff like that, I liked the story well enough.
