One of my rats would do that in his cage. He would push his metal food bowl from one side to the cage then stare at me and push it to the

other side and then stare at me until I fed him.

Charlie will do that too and tell you when he has to go out, when you need to open the door wider so he can get in a room lol .. he's like "Human! Where is my human to do all the things!"
