if anyone likes radlers/shandys? Lemon or grapefruit? Do you have a recipe? I've heard they are popular in Germany...

I love Radler. :-D You use lemonade. Well soda. Like Sprite or Fanta. Make sure it's carbonated. There are so many variations to this mix drink.

Usually you do half/half or 70/30.

Oh and I meant Sprite or 7up. It's the closest to German lemonade. :-)

I had a radler the other day, Stiegl? It tasted of grapefruit, and was very delicious. (mmm)

based on that, I'd be likely to try Squirt. ;-)

Yes...just make sure the lemonade is carbonated.

what beer? A pilsner or a lager?
Chris

I prefer a pilsner. Or a kristallweizen.
Chris

Some drink it with white beer. Not my favorite.

in Berlin they dump syrup into Berliner Weisse. B.W. is a ghastly beer best consumed with a Döner Kebab (sort of like a Gyro) after 2AM when you're already drunk.

Yep it's called Berliner Weisse mit Schuss.

I love Waldmeister Syrup!

a kristallweizen sounds great. I'm thinking of brewing the base beer, and a hefeweizen is easier than a lager. Something light and neutral.

Yes! Especially to try it out! It is very nice during the Summer. A nice thirst quencher...the Radler that is.

a berlinerweisse is a bitch to make, I've heard. But it I see a radler made with one is popular.

Leinenkugel makes a Summer Shandy that is like a light lager with lemonade. It also is tasty. Refreshing!

I really don't like Berliner Weisse. :-& Or Bitburger. I guess some folks do, though. With so many better beers (IMO) readily available in Germany I don't know why people drink those two.
Chris

I don't like neither! (LOL)
Chris

*either.

I don't like the Leinenkugel either. I last had one in the airport in Detroit when I was headed somewhere for work - possibly Istanbul.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2277/2063084401_41ebabbd9d.jpg yep - that's when I had it. Beer is one of the things I miss since I started not eating grain. (I won't give up Bourbon, though.)
P7! says

living without beer would be tough. (cozy) Bourbon rocks, though.

I thought you liked gueuze though. Same general category as berliner weisse? (17E vs 17A)
LarryB says

I do like gueuze - but it has more sour to go along with the bitter.
