nurses and recently pregnant friends, have you ever heard that you can determine the sex of the fetus and whether or not it was a single or twins through blood work of the mother?

Yes. Also heard you can tell by the side the placenta sits. My placenta was correct. But not sure.

8 weeks, it just sounded off, and my dd looked it up online and could only find information about ultrasounds. Thank you momtofamilyof5. We will have to ask about that

I know about the ultra sounds, it is just that the girl said her dr. office said that normal blood work could show the gender and number of fetuses. that is what I am questioning

altruismworks: that article was about the placenta. As far as blood work goes I have never heard it determining twins but maybe rumor about sex.

yeah the girl was pretty positive that was the case. She told my dd that her ob/gyn told her that the sex of the child can be determined through blood test and claimed they told her she only had 1 fetus due to

youngshepard, that is the same thing I said. I have had 5 children and as far as I knew the possibility of double heartbeats and ultrasounds were the only ways, but this girl was getting defensive about it.

I know things change, but I wouldn't think technology advanced that much in 3 years. lol
