Some guy was all "Why are you making me pay for this? MY journal is open-access, and that's what you should do. I can't believe you would make people pay to give you information you should be grateful to have!"

And I was like, "It IS free to submit, genius. You only have to pay to buy the book."

Not to mention that a small open-access journal with a volunteer staff is rather different than trying to run a publishing company with full-time editors and typesetters. I like getting paid.

Well, see, I edit a directory. He got a message asking him to submit updated info for his journal's entry. He saw that people actually have to pay to buy the directory, thought he'd be charged to have an entry
