My boyfriend's mum has been nominated by one of our national newspapers as one of Poland's national heroes as part of the celebrations of 25 years of freedom from communism in Poland! So proud!

I know! I am so pleased for her! She had polio as a child and her legs were left deformed by it and she dedicated her life to helping disabled people who felt they were unable to live full and varied lives from
former soldiers to little kids. She literally saved so many people from suicide and fought against discrimination (which was higher here than in other western countries) and got loads of disabled people
involved in sports and things. But that sort of thing obviously doesn't bring in much money so they are not well off at all so it's really great that she is getting such recognition now!
