it looks like something i would come across after a devastating battle
RN1209: hahaha... its kinda the look I'm going for overall
nice!!! epic battle weathering
PaulDavid: Nice. It is just a leg. I can wonder if the whole spraying done on the full body...it is going to be awesome. Good job
This was just testing. Also, no spraying was used to create this effect
No spraying.. then your skill is quite good.
Looks alright but is that yellow suppose to be there?
for the foot right, maybe drybrush bit of silver to make it look like scraped paint.
used yellow to simulate staining and rust. ok ka?
if it rust you're looking for, then gotta put a bit more effort in mixing. try base color with orange, brown, a dab of yellow, a dab of black. & For extra kick some bronze.

I think the panel lines bleed too much. Try getting them thinner. Use an enamel wash. I'm not pro at mixing these stuff so i bought a bottle off the internet.
Example of the effect to strive for.
What you do with the enamel wash (black paint mixed with some thinner) you dab it across some parts of the figure, especially on top of the panel lines. Then use cotton buds to seep the excess water off.
Let it dry, then either proceed with a 2nd wash to make it dirtier, or use a cotton bud very carefully refine the weathering by sweeping past the panels
wah the RX 78-2 is damn stimz
eh sorry...i mean the RX-79
vectorbot: ok. I'll try adding those colors in
wolfx: actually the HeavyArms doesn't have many panel lines. But too late for fixing the lines. All under a later of top coat. But noted, will implement thinner lines on the Strike E
The 1st pic seems bit too much weathering, I prefer subtle weathering like the Rx78
now, this is what I'm using to weather the kit:
Does it cover the plastic area evenly? I used to use colour leads from pencil colours shave them into powder then rub on to the edges. Quite abit of work (and mess) as you can imagine.
it goes on as a sharp line. Then I buff with finger, cotton bud or a cosmetic sponge. if you take the time it covers the area evenly
But need to handle carefully. fingerprint magnet
CL: Not much panel lines is ok..... the wash solution was killing two birds with one stone. Panel Line + Weathering. As VB said, try the subtle weathering first before u attempt wear & tear
wolfx: aight. Also discovered that enamel panel lining you described is the way to go. The pen lines i did on my 144 Red Frame bled out when I sprayed on topcoat
oh dear.....why not try the gundam marker? RM9.90. U can't go wrong with it.
alamaks. Sorry to hear that, but I think the key here is to do weathering moderately. Then again I personally dont have the heart to take a solder gun and start piercing the plastic all over
CL: I feel enamel safer la. shall got with that. VB: That will be a nightmare LOL
but then again that's what the pro use to make realistic beam blast dmg and bullet holes.
CL: Gundam Marker is safe. U can still use your finger to rub it off after u apply it. And it won't smudge.
wolfx: k. Will go look for it
speaking of which, any hobby supply shops near Cheras Serdang etc
vectorbot ?
From the top of my head I can only think of Aunty Lenny.
