SO because my house was plumbed by drunk people, the washing machine drains into two large sinks in the basement

and the entire house has dicky plumbing prone to a lot of clogging in general

(fortunately not the toilet, but shower definitely)

oh lol the sink thing, this happens in a lot of Oberlin houses too

when we flew to seattle a week ago they were full from having done one load of laundry and didn't subside for the day, like I had to fly out with a load of laundry to do at the hostel and beg my downstairs

neighbor's washing machine for my bras

there are still several inches of water in them

after a week

like I am going to target and buy multiple bottles of draino to shovel down them so that I can do laundry without it spilling all over the basement floor

the landlord is really difficult to deal with and refuses to do anything about laundry malfunctions without lecturing us for an hour about overloading the machine, like I keep thinking I should call him but

if it's not draining right, it's a problem and that's what you're paying rent for

landlord dude can suck it -- overloading the laundry and having pipes that won't drain are entirely different matters.

Better to have a plumber deal now than to put draino down and cause problems for the plumber later
