Self-absorbed peacocking assholes who like to troll.
Most of them also tend to be in their 40s and 50s.
See also: Extensive vocabularies.
(Especially looking at you, Hector.

)
Both of my mains have drinking problems.
Hector's by necessity of survival, Tony because...Well. Issues.
Also, characters who start off as the bad guy (not necessarily the villain) and grow as people through a series.
Tony Stark, Hector Barbossa.
They both have redemptive arcs, to differing degrees.
Characters that tend to be underestimated.
Hector for his age, for example. Tony because his past ~indiscretions~.
Characters that tend to be animated in their emotions.
Not necessarily people who tend to talk with their hands but characters that have billboards for faces before they get it on lockdown.
Idk about him, he's just there.
Though he can be an asshole, too, to a degree.
He's like creed: He just showed up and you can't get rid of him.
So. Assholes. I like assholes.
It's true. He's fuzzy and takes up too much room.
And is just kind of there.
I need to put Creed somewhere but a jamjar? Unless there's someone to control him, isn't a good idea
The characters that I get stuck with tend to be...Well, the easiest way to put is not afraid of death.
Either because they've come awful damn close to it, or have actually died.
(Dean. Dean you need to stop, ok.)
Huge reserves of resolve and will power. And nerves of steel.
That's another trait most of them share.
(Either that, or it's the crazy. That could be it, too.)
They also tend to have a hard time relating to other people on differing levels.
They all tend to have problems in some facet, a lot of them physical and mental.
Tony's got a magnet keeping him alive and anxiety and ptsd.
Hector loses a leg and is crazy as a bedbug and something of an adrenaline junkie.
(No one will ever top his cackle, full stop.)
Just...You know. Stuff like that.
I also apparently tend to be a sucker for the Badass Mustache trope.
Idk what that says about me.
Also the Good Is Not Nice trope.
I'm a sucker for it, whoops.
