We're looking for ideas in the comments section for how you think Second Life could be most improved!
This all looks like great news except the very first thing on this list, which makes me want to just walk away. I could not do my job in SL if I had to use the LL viewer.
I've tried using the LL viewer a few times. I can't stand it either. At least in SL ( and on other virtual worlds) we're allowed to choose our own viewer.
SL began with LL encouraging us to create it our way, with this new platform it feels like they're saying, "Actually we want things OUR way.."
If LL wanted us to use the standard viewer, they'd make one with tools and options that users actually require, and they'd put those in places that actually made sense.
If content creators are to be the primary customers who will be buying?
Zaafir:
BryonyConstantine: Exactly! My concern is that they WON'T listen, and it will be as bare bones as it now is. They should at least offer options. Maybe a skinny one for people who need nothing but to..
connect to the world, and a more robust one for those of us who need to be able to derender other avatars, use area search, block people from seeing our look-at targets, etc ad nauseum. (This is why I can't go
without Firestorm.) If I couldn't have some of those things, I couldn't do my job. Thus I couldn't afford my land, or the buildings and furniture that go on it... self-destructive, SL!
I want to participate in the comment thing in this link but how can you narrow it down to just one thing?
Those are many of the reasons I opt for FS over the LL viewer, too. Derender and area search are our friends.
The "user friendly" LL viewer is a dumbed down GUI for casual, new users whereas Firestorm puts the tools we need in our hands.

So if LL decides to remove third party options, they'd damn well better take lessons from Firestorm on how to do a viewer right.
Its about far more then TPVs or the ludicrous statement that "content creators will be the primary customers". Its is about the fantasy market LL will be able to attract with its shiny new closed sourced VW.
So how does LL expect content creators to be their best customers when they already don't protect content creators rights and have a screwy DMCA system
So they want to recreate success but the success is a matter of community (I joined SL as that's where my friends were). Meanwhile they (aside from Oz?) are ignoring that very community.
If they get it right, great. If not, the money goes away and the traffic goes to.... Skype.
LOL and so tired after reading the 45 pages of the sluniverse forum on this subject.
