Looks like LL decided to right some of the issues with the last major TOS update. Updates to Section 2.3 of the Terms of Service

Glad to hear someone is listening and was interested in fixing this issue (despite the long turn around time).

I do wonder if some of why this drug out so long was the changes between the Rodvik and Ebbe eras?

looks at th'ToS. In th'old version it said LL had th'right to "sell, resell, or sublicense (through multiple levels)" evrythin' you upload.
Samm Florian

(Upload or make, I oughta say.)

Th'new version keeps that, 'cept adds "(with respect to Second Life, Inworld or otherwise on the Service as permitted by you through your interactions with the Service)".

that enough t'satisfy folks?

mmccann: I would wager this change would not have happened this quickly, if at all, were Rodvik still the running the show.

kinda agrees: I woulda expected somethin' more clearly written after all this time. This insert seems like an afterthought: mighta made sense as a slapdash correction last August, but now? Do it right, LL!

mishaselene: Oh that Vaki. She always has a way of saying things.

Despite being in agreement with her on much of what is said there, I think that today's TOS update does move the needle (even if slightly) in a positive direction.
Nath Pevensey

Yeah, it's not clear enough yet, but it is certainly NOT stating what seemed implicit a year ago.
Vaki

Oh sure, it's moving the needle. A little. But very unclearly, and it troubles me a lot that the corporate leadership of the company can have its message so emphatically clear,
Vaki

and the legal department can be so completely incapable of translating that to operative terms.
Nath Pevensey

From what little I know about the matter, they're not even equipped for handling a criminal investigation, so I'm not shocked their legal department is... dubious on the englishing.

ONSL: I agree. It did not seem an important issue to Rodvik.

Ok.. Ok ok ok... I need someone to dumb this WAY down. Like you're telling it to a 3 year old that has head trauma...

VincentVile: they made it explicit that they do NOT have resale rights or ownership over some things, but they did not make a lot of other things that were thrown into the last ToS change clearer or neater.
Vaki

....Except not really.

O.< I.. see... So.. Thattssssssss.... good? 50-50 shot here

VincentVile: They changed two things. One: there's this big list of permissions you give to LL, and they moved three of those permissions from the middle of the list to the end of the list.
Vaki

And two: they added a phrase, in parentheses, that limits ...something... to SL.
Vaki

I can't tell you what "something" is, because I honestly don't know. That limitation would be awesome, except we have no idea what it applies to, and the way they wrote the thing, it's totally unclear.
Deadpool

Oh joy! We can just make this shit up as we go then! :B
Vaki

That "something" might just be LL's ability to sublicense your stuff. Which is useless. That "something" might be LL's ability to sell or resell your stuff. Which is...useless, if it doesn't also apply to all
Vaki

the other permissions as well. That "something" might be a limitation to all the permissions altogether, but if it is, I have no idea why they moved three permissions from the middle of the list to the end.

How very curious... Thank you Vaki and nathpev I really appreciate the time spent trying to clarify this a bit more for me ^_^

It's very opaque, isn't it? :-D
