It's nearly impossible to enforce in practice. I also doubt the school refers to it as a "ban". When a school bans something, there has to be a consequence for the violators.

Exactly MrsMontoya It is nice to see in light of what other "Catholic" schools are stating and/or doing.

Not sure it's so unenforceable. They have separate dorm buildings for men and women, and school conduct contracts have been enforced pretty readily before.
