oo-er! Why so chuffed?

My previous landlady wanted £54 from my deposit because of a mattress I had stained, but I counter offered £30 and she accepted when I thought she would be stubborn about it.

Oh, well done you!

When I moved out of the first place I lived in Felixstowe, the woman doing the inspection, co-incidentally the same one who did the hand over inspection at the start, diddled me out of my entire deposit.

She'd been selective in her wording about certain things, and even though I had the original list, which in my eyes proved that every problem was originally there, she fought me down and refused to give me any

of it back. I discovered later, that her husband was the one who did all repairs, which was flipping handy for her, eh!

had that same pairing of landlady and her "quick-fixes" husband! It got so frustrating when he would come to do the repairs rather than call someone to fix it properly!!

overcleaned his house before he moved out. It turned out that the landlady quoted it being the "model property upon check-out" and assumed it was a joint effort from everyone.

To be fair, everyone did do their part, but I am just more thorough with my cleaning...except for my stained mattress. Completely forgot about that!

I had to deep clean that house when I first moved in. Took me three full days. I left it in an entirely better condition than the one I was given it in!

One of the things she complained about at the end was a broken curtain rail. The same broken curtain rail on the list. The same one I'd asked them to fix six times and that I had letters, from them, confirming

that I'd asked and that no-one ever fixed. I never did get any of the repairs and help promised.

One thing I did get, was a keen sense of self-preservation for the next time. I took photos with a digital camera of everything and had them mark down things in a clear and precise manner.

do that for his future accommodations. I didn't for this because I wasn't the first one to move in, so the inventory wasn't done by me, and I was too lazy to take photos.

Never be too lazy when money is at stake
