Robin Williams, it's so hard to think of what to say but I had an interesting conversation about his passing that I wanted to share. He was a role model for me. I remember watching Mork and Mindy as a child.
He was hilarious, and the fact that the show was set in Boulder, very close to where I lived made me feel very close to him. Now when I told my friend that he was a role model... the question I got was,
"You want to be an aging male comedian?" I laughed but the simple answer was No... and the more complex answer was that what I saw in Robin Williams was MORE than a just an amazing actor or comedian.
He touched people's lives. He made you want to be a better person... and he made you smile. THAT is what I wanted to be. I could never hold a candle to what Robin has given the world...
But he gave me the desire to want to do everything I could to make my small part of it a better place to be and to share joy at every possible opportunity. Robin... you will be missed!
He lived with his eyes and his mind both wide open, and his brains turned on. I suspect that had a lot to do with both his genius and his pain. His death is a terrible loss.
