[work] Animals I've seen just from working at this location (over the last few weeks) :
latest #16
- A real life bald eagle free in the wild - Red-tailed hawks - Golden eagle (at least 80% sure it was one) - Unidentified hawks
- Misc small field birds - Pack rat - Field mouse - Lizard of some kind
- Lots of deer (including two babies and a couple bucks) - Cows - Horses - A moose (okay I didn't see it but most others did)
- Coyotes (who also ruined shots by howling sometimes) - Something resembling a groundhog ...aaaand I think that's it (not including insects, obv)
(Remember what I said about being in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service?)
are bald eagles really that rare down there? :c
They're endangered and mostly found in zoos and such. idk. First time anyone on the crew had ever seen one in the wild? But I also don't spend much time in the desert usually.
I knew they were endangered, but I thought they'd started to recover
it's odd, we see them so often up here. there's a mated pair on my parent's farm even.
And yeah, they're recovering. There are probably more in the Wyoming area, or southern Utah. Our climate is so ridiculously diverse.
Old bird watcher adage: all hawks are red-tails until proven otherwise.
(Red-tails are super common and depending on their life stage, can be mistaken for others.)
Hahaha. I only knew because one of the makeup girls is a bird watcher person.
