is it safe to assume that an event organizer is just filling in spaces when you get an invite for something that happens in 12 days? Or do some organizers really send invites that close to the event?

I'm just asking because, there's no way. There's no way I can make something, fine tune it, create variations, photograph it, make vendors, box it and decorate an event space with less than two weeks notice.

and I don't know if I'm just ridiculously slow, or if I only got this invite because the organizer is fishing for folks to fill last minute spaces lol

I see people post about working on something for an event that starts in days or hours, and sometimes I come down to the wire too, but I usually started on it weeks ago

It depends on who's already accepted I think, if it's full of good stores then I tend to think they just had a few drop out. If it looks like the organiser made up 23 alt stores to have a list then

TL;DR I'm slow

I think they are just struggling to get anyone and are on their 2nd or 3rd draft of invites

I just want to know if everyone else is getting their stuff done in a few days or not. Why does it take me weeks lol

That's such a smart thing to do, and I've literally never been on the ball enough to get to that point. I guess that's something to shoot for!

12 days is sort of short notice. I give nearly a month for MSO

I tend to work fast bit it's best to get more than a fortnights notice. Some event sent me their poster yesterday possibly thinking I wanted to join or something. Not really sure.

it's one of those obvious things that just escapes me. I get last minute invites regularly, and just wondered if organizers did that because everyone cranks stuff out at the last minute anyway (except me)

stock piling in advance never occured to me as the answer

Well tbh I've sent regular invites with as short as 10 days notice. But that was when I was extremely busy in rl and admittedly should have

some people do make stuff at a very fast pace, some people also just don't get started before last minute. personally, i prefer having a large enough time buffer to account for surprise RL stuff and computer

Next round with a better advanced notice. But seriously no matter how many spots I need to fill I never invite people that I wouldn't

Ordinarily invite before hand. So don't take it as a slight!

Yeah I think lots of people stockpile.

ty! I really am happy just to be invited to things, even if I can't do them and even if I know I'm a fill in
