The problem is, I've never colored manga screenshots, although I've read some guides before. But some of these decks will be mostly BW manga cards.
I would really want to color them, but I'm not that confident yet, and I don't have that much time to learn.
So... This is what I can do right now.
I really want an honest opinion; should I even try? I don't want to hear later that people think it looks like paint or something. ._.
I think it looks better than just the normal way of coloring the lineart. But I know that if I start doing it more and learn more, I'll think the first pictures colored look awful.
But I just want to know, if they look TOO awful for other people.
I'm guessing here but 02 is the painted/colored version, 03 is the manga lineart and 05 is the in-game screenshot right?
That's right. I put the screenshot there for color reference.
I'll be honest then... I honestly could not have told you that was fan-colored. I would have guessed that was an official art piece from Nintendo.
(I hope that's okay to say?)
I think it looks really good! A lot better than my first attempts at it (aka the Karaya Chief deck) I agree with Ralene that if I didn't know you colored it, I would believe it was official
Maybe I at least try to color some of them then. Probably not everything, since it takes some time and I have a lot to do.
Awwh, thank you too, Noxie.
I thought these would also be an easy place to start... I'm familiar with Pokemon and they usually have a lot less different colors than human characters.
If you're concerned, you could post some images along the way and ask for advice? But if your example is how you color, I think you'll be just fine!
I'll do that on the way too. At least it's easy to go from a colored version back to BW, if something goes wrong.
Your coloring looks really nice! I agree that it looks official. I really love the lineart colors though, but I didn't donate this and I'm not the deckmaker so.
HOLY CRAP YOU COLORED THAT YOURSELF? O_O
I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE I THOUGHT IT WAS OFFICIALLY COLORED ART I'D FORGOTTEN ABOUT
tho I also might be the only person who actually really likes the monochrome manga TCG cards so if it takes 1000 years to color them all don't do it out of worry i'll be sad or anything like that :'D
UR COLORING IS SO PRETTERS THO I JUST HOW DOES YOU EVEN
I love them too!!! but at the same time these colors are really pretty
It'll look nice either way lmao
Aww, thanks Kippi and Netbug too <3 I'm so glad they don't look totally horrible.
And good to know you like the linearts too. Since it really does take time (~20-30 min vs 2 min... XD) So I'll be more than happy if I can have half of the decks in color.
And btw, Celebi is ready
Sadly the sprites were quite small compared to our card side, so it's hard to make them look sharp without going too sharp... I might work with them a bit more later, if I have time.
Eheh...
And I'm sorry, if this plurk came of as... asking for compliments. I didn't, really. I'm quite satisfied with how the coloring looks.
But that's right now... I also really liked how my first decks looked like at the time. But now I see all the mistakes and am like "Why can't I remake that?! ;_;"
So I know that if I learn more of coloring, I'll think that of these too. So I want to be sure they'll be at good enough for other people, even if they won't be for me. ^^'
It's super pretty, so you did quite well I think.
your coloring looks amazing, i thought it was official too aka just repeating what everyone else here have said
It looks wonderful! Sorry I had to throw so many sprites at you to begin with. I literally dent every pic I could. I know sprites are a pain. :'D
