When I'm having trouble with voices for Costigan or Hayley, I start quoting random bits of the movie to myself to remember how they sound. Each has a go-to line that I always default to remembering.
Costigan's, without fail, is "Do you want him to chop me up and feed me to the poor, huh? Is that what you want?" I can't help it. ;_;
Hayley's tends to be more "What kind of person did she find out you were, Jeff?" or "Your honesty would be mucho appreciated" or "I meant to be like, so sophisticated when we met."
If being fake. If being sincere, it's more like "What, you love nature, thus you must be a nice guy?" or "The pedophiles, that's who. ... It's just so easy to blame a kid, isn't it?"

I've got characters I do that with. If I have a voice in my head for them, that voice is always sort of playing in the background whenever I tag.
Amaraq: yeah. It's weird for me playing book characters because I'm so used to hearing the voice.

thedarkfields That's what I'm not sure about. On the one hand, he doesn't want to be an asshole who keeps harassing her when she wants nothing to do with him
but on the other hand, she did TELL him to bring it back to her, and he does still have the impulse to want to try and fix things
Technically she never said to leave her alone. Just that she had to go.
if he does show up, he's still not going to push things unless she initiates a conversation, probably
This situation is actually similar in a lot of ways to what happened with Whitney in the show, when he Dun Goofed big time and she gave him the cold shoulder
He feels bad, and he'd like to fix things, but if he thinks she doesn't want to, he's not going to force it
He'll just... hang around in the background making sad puppy eyes whenever they run into each other
Hayley's torn because, on principle, she's against genocide.. but she can sort of see how it was justified? So that sort of confuses her.
And now lacking anyone to talk it out with, she's just not sure.
Tbh she'd probs trust him more if she knew about Gene, but then he'd have lied via omission by not telling her before, so.

it certainly wouldn't be implausible for him to slip up and reveal that the Mystery Person is Gene or at least someone on the turtle
but if she pressed him on it he'd clam up say he really can't give her any more details without Gene's consent
now, whether that would make things better, or worse....
