If you have an issue with someone's nickname for you where you work - would you tell the person or would you go straight to your boss and complain?

I would tell them directly. They may have no idea it bothers you and there may be no reason to involve management

If my staff came to me with that I would send them back to talk to the other person. No way would I get involved. I would also think they were immature and slightly unprofessional for asking me to resolve it

I thought maybe I was seeing it as too simplistic - I was called into my bosses office and blasted because I refer to my team (including myself) as minions.

45 minutes later I walked away wondering why they just hadn't told me they would prefer I didn't use that term. I've been stewing on it for 48 hours.
