sighs Disappointed. Just got latest update about the numbers of my book launch tomorrow. 15. Which considering the promotion I've tried to do is really disappointing.

This is the biggest reason traditional publishing is still appealing; their professional PR teams make all the difference I think. Or maybe the book just really does suck that much. :-(

Oh well, shake it off. They show must go on and once the launch is out of the way and done I can forget about it and focus on writing the next book instead of worrying about if the first will sell.

For what it's worth, having little to no real-life friendships means very few people are going to bother turning up for a party. I'll have to plan an online launch party so all my online friends can come.

And I have to stop comparing myself to the other book launches and author talks I've been to. So what if my friend Sioban had over a hundred people on Saturday and Shane had almost 40 last night.

have you considered using thunderclap? Thunderclap

It's a start, and hopefully some people will read the book, like it, review it, and the burning ember will eventually grow. Shake it off and get back to work on the next book.

I'd never heard of it before, Mysti. Does it work well for local events?

I'm not sure how well it works in smaller communities, but have heard rave reviews from some in larger municipalities in the US and Canada.

I started a local writer's group on Facebook. I wanted something for people who do NaNoWriMo and wanted to be able to have write-ins at other times of the year. It's been very helpful for F2F.

well, yay for the few

I thought having the direct link as ML to my entire NaNo region would help push numbers, but Shane's event yesterday only had about 4 NaNo participants attend despite the fact that it was a NaNo event.

Was very disappointed that the people in my region aren't showing more support for the events we've spent all year organising. If we have lackluster attendance at Write Night we probably won't bother next year.

Definitely yay for the few mostlyhermetic . It makes me all more appreciative for the friends and family who are coming.

Know how I was feeling a bit down and mopey this morning about the poor booking numbers for my launch tomorrow? Total turn around when I found my name and launch mentioned TWICE in the state newspaper today.

I'm famous!!! lol So very cool to have real media coverage like that. I mean who still reads the paper these days, but seriously, it's the greatest news for local coverage. I'm thrilled.

And hopefully it'll convert to bookings, although the late notice is a bit of a worry. I'm still hopeful that one final push will give the numbers a bit of a boost.

your book online or purely paper? :-) Also is it a book that I would like to read? I.e. not a Dr. Stephan Frank style book :-D

Actually it is the kind of book you'd probably enjoy rolandhesz . It's a paranormal suspense featuring a woman who transforms into a giant snake. :-)

And yes it's available online for Kindle as well as paperback. Amazon.com: The Flight of Torque (Blood of the Nagaran Book 1) eB... Give it a browse and let me know if it's your kind of thing.

I'd never heard of Kafka so went searching. Trying to find a decent translated copy of Metamorphosis to read. :-) Sounds like The Flight of Torque is definitely something you'd be into. :-D

:-o never heard of Franz Kafka!! Lucky you (annoyed) I had to read him in highschool. Although Metamorphosis was a funnily weird book.
