oh no that means 'shrike'
It might look like a lightweight, but the shrike is a stone-cold killer.
I got distracted by his waxing poetic about her youth xD
we really have to have her meet Miles at some point
rofl possibly. xD What is Miles' dreamscape stuff?
oh god, so much. he has like 12 years of life experience worth of canon to draw from, and he spent most of it traipsing around the galaxy with a mercenary fleet
BASICALLY THERE'S A LOT OF OPTIONS it's easier to go from the other angle. what kind of stuff resonates with Ringer?
they don't have aliens in Miles verse but there's a lot of death
pick your level of tragedy, 1 to 10
I'm sure he regularly dreams of... there was this baby in his district that was killed in its first week of life by her grandmother for being a 'mutie'. really she just had cleft palate
and Miles had to go solve the case, while he physically looks like a mutant himself
he goes to her grave to talk to the baby in canon
any mass graves or anything?
but he goes to a lot of graves to talk, in canon LOL
Ringer used to do P&D that involved sorting through pockets of corpses of all ages for hours on end and then burning them.
mmmm he led the mercenary fleet himself so on bad missions there'd be dead. in his nightmares he probably pictures all of his failed soldiers at once.
oh also she dealt with children being used as IEDs. if he has anything like that? idk
(there's a reason she doesn't smile okok)
hm, the only horrifying thing Miles deals with with children is where... people make clones of themselves, artificially induce aging in the clone until the're about 20, then have a brain transplant,
thought you'd like it ^_^
killing the clone but faking immortality for them, in effect
so the clones who are waiting for the procedure are all kept in little creches, mentally about six years old
and he has a clone himself (for another reason, obviously) so it's pretty personal to him
chirality: oh the clones thing could be interesting for reasons. idk idk. or maybe just a graveyard/graves in general?
because their dead were p much all abandoned or burned
Miles does a Barrayaran tradition of burning an offering at dawn
it could be neat to have her see that, in contrast to her experience
yeah that would be interesting
he's pretty philosophical at times, he'd probably happily go off on a musing tangent at her without provocation
Sure am texting my military/police/hunter friend for gun info.
So glad I know people that know everything so I can just text instead of googling.
topsecretgirly Sorry I didn't mean to go the injury route but otherwise he p much would have just left, haha
