I'd really like to go sometime soon and I'm wondering if I can do it in like a day trip or should I stay a couple days?

The museum is big but you certainly could see a lot in one day. My advice is to NOT go on a weekend this time of year. Pick a day during the week so the crowds will be smaller. Its a great museum

I live here so I have been about 346 times. Or maybe 347.

It's way huger than I thought it was. We didn't get through the whole thing. Honestly I can go to the DC museums for free and regret going to that one...

Sure the Smithsonian is free but you have to be in Washington.

Chestnut: that's so awesome, I'm totally jealous. I'd be there all the time if I lived closer!

The schools take the kids all the time so I have been with my own school as a student and with my kids classes. And now my colleagues work with the Museum so we have professional connections. Its great.

I've wanted to go for yearssss, I think it's time to finally go!

You should! One word of advice, unless you really want to be in NYC during the Christmas rush you might want to wait until after the holidays. So many tourists in the city! Its sooooo crowded.

Yeah I'm thinking maybe some time in march, I want to make sure I'm able to really walk around and enjoy it

March is better than now. April is even better, weather wise. Just don't come during spring break weeks. (Can you tell I am all about avoiding the tourist crowds?)

It's very cold in NYC in December. That museum wasn't as busy as Toys R US Times Square, that place is packed out then.

Whatever you do stay away from Times Square at all times. (shudder)
