Despite the challenges, they don't complain. They do admit to being afraid of things like driving in the snow. But they're resilient and adaptable, which is are good survival traits.

I was reminded of all the good ol' boys from the Carolinas and Georgia being oriented to Alaska by the military :-D

And considering some of the young people in that story had been born in a refugee camp and lived their whole lives there, this has to be an exhilarating and terrifying adventure!

This brings a smile to my face. Reminds me of all my Hmoob people in California. I used to ask them why their cousins were crazy and going to Minnesota to farm when they could be in California or North Carolina

When I lived in Denver several local groups were very active in resettling refugees from all over the world. It made for an amazingly varied population and I learned a ton from my patients and their families.
